ARB Air-Locker - Need advises and insights

Oh, another thing I had issues with was diff fluid running from the rear all the way to the compressor. The rear breather didn’t flow enough. I got a breather from Autozone for a TJ Wrangler and haven’t had any problems since.

I’m late to the party here, but since others read these threads, so wanted to chime in.

I’ve installed both elockers and ARB LOCKERS, and both work well. The elocker installation is easier and you never have to worry about a leaking air line….and I’ve had to repair more than a couple air line leaks. I’ve also replace the air ring for a friend on one ARB that failed.

when I installed a locker in the front of my F550 adventure motorhome (Dana 60), I opted for an elocker simply because I think the ARB has more unnecessary failure points.

Another plus 1 for ARB, I have finally learned to just pay the man at the 4x4 shop to install differential stuff. I installed and ran the air lines, compressor and electrical. Just had my local shop setup the locker and gear set. To easy, super reliable. They did run the copper over the ring gear, I saw that when I did the fluid change after break in.

I'm sold already, it is going to be RD245 for the win. I have studied all the Dana material and their online classes, to do it myself, and even obtained a pinion depth measuring tool. So, I'll do it. Now, it's Locker time. Needs wifey approval and do it.

For me, I'm opting for ARB, since it seems to me a more robust solution. The issue with eLockers appears to have started after 2019, and the quality in the production chain is no longer what it once was.

I agree ARB has leaks from time to time, on hoses, and some other issues. However, the "locker" itself is almost nukeproof (no pun intended). That is the key motivation for me now. I can fix all the "accessories" stuff (weak/failure points). The problem for me is I can't have a locker that "may" fail.

These things are expensive, obscenely expensive. And changing one of the hassles of moving your ring-gear, redoing the pattern, and so forth, is painful. Compared to changing a locker, the airlines, and any other minor stuff, I can take it. That is my pain threshold. Changing to a new locker ($$$$$), the hours of work, and everything else, is heavy.

P.S.: I assume I'm handling everything. I saw some "specialized" gear shops, and it is clear to me that something is not adding up. Hence, I took the classes, books, and 3K videos from YouTube. Preparing the wifey mentally for the ordeal and so forth. By not adding up the charges, given the amount of hours required to do it, or they lose $$$ on billable hours (don't see it happening), or the parts are not what you expect. Search for the prices, check to buy the parts "top of the shelf" quality, and try to match, so you are at a loss there in a top shop. In any random shop, they charge you for buffering for insurance, meaning the quality of the work is ... expected that something may fail. So, they add some buffer in case of replacing the ring and pinion.
