Are the prices hitting rock bottom?

Man...that's more the reason why I'm trying to get a diesel Glady discounted at my local dealer. I already own BMW IX EV and I can tell ya I'm not sold on electric yet. If anything, anything with a battery becomes a disposable and thats why on EV, they only cover battery warranty till 100k and after that, any recharge issue becomes the customers problem and a full battery replacement will cost like $20k (on the bmw). Not to mention on open freeway with load, 4 adullts and trunk full of suiitcases, the EV range goes downhill real quick (once ya speed past 70mph). It's worse than a V8 at that point.

Once everybody goes to hybrids and EV, nobody will ever own these vehicles past 80k (or after factory warranty). No more of those good ole days of keeping a truck till it runs to the ground .

And unfortuantely, the same now applies to modern diesel with emissions..the engines will last but the emissions and egr will fail once past 100k.

In 10 years a lot can change…maybe it will be legal to remove the EGR by then or at least do a GDE tune which should help limit EGR issues. I’m not sold on the throw-away EV, PHEV cars either. And don’t forget, engines can be rebuilt, batteries can only be replaced.

Rock bottom is relative, I’d always jump on a diesel from a gasser (especially rubicon) but IMO that is a bit different than jumping from a gasser to a gasser, I think you’d be taking a huge loss but a rubicon does have a lot of stuff from the factory…ultimately to each his/her own.

I initially had buyers remorse when they announced the FarOut edition. Now looking at them online I’ve yet to find one that is actually “loaded” like my ‘23 JTRD.

I went from a 22 High Altitude to a 23 JTRD when the rebate was "only" 10%. I read about the Far Out edition, but the lack of a trail cam, lack of adaptive cruise, the required M/T tires and the stickers had me sold on a regular version. It really depends on your priorities--I figured if I was going to spend $55k on a vehicle that I wouldn't be able to ever buy again(the jeep diesel) I might as well spend an extra $10k to outfit it EXACTLY the way I want. Others shop strictly on the price/the rebates, which is cool--but for me, making all of these compromises when you're at the buy in for a Rubicon diesel doesn't make much sense.

I have a 2021 Sport S and like it very much. But as I add some of mods I want to do the rubicon starts to look closer to what I want in the long run. Does this deal look good? Are trade-ins coming close to KBB is quoting?

What time today can you make it in for a test drive?

Unfortunately all the JTRs I looked at that were MSRP'd at $60-65K still didn't have all the options that I couldn't live without. Mine ended up MSRP'd at $68K, I was out the door at $55K. I have no regrets for waiting and getting exactly what I wanted.

The situation is not going to magically fix itself once they sell through the leftover 2023 models. They have a price problem.

Man. They are just sawing and slashing. Even people like me, who got close to 27% off msrp combined dealer and manufacturer discounts, are getting buried. That's another $3,200 I could have saved, and maybe I could have beaten the dealer up a little more.

What I really don't understand is the used market on these things. Used car dealers are asking more for a 2-3 year old Gladiator with 20k-30k miles than a new 2023 can be had for. Are the used ones even selling at this point?

Keep in mind the only discounts are the '23 models as this year was the hardest year for Jeep ....following Covid, they ramped up production and made too many Gladys and truth be told, at $60k optioned mid size truck, NOT everyone will bite as it's a niche truck for the niche market.

Mainstream truck customers will always flock to the typical Canyon/Colorado and of course, the king of mid size Tacoma (throw Ranger somewhere in there). This is where Jeep went wrong and next thing ya know, these $60k optioned gladiators occupy dealer lots and then throw in a higher APR and money factor (for lease), they become lot queens. The average mid size truck customer will NOT spend $60k on a solid axle mid size truck with average sound dampening, stiff steering, still somewhat tighter interior, missing tons of tech found in other trucks and most Jeep owners never utilize the vehicles full off road capability other than it being a mall crawler on 37s . For most people, even a Subaru outback will handle a lot of back roads and mild trails..lol.

And when ya can't move a $60k mid size niche truck, but still need to clear lots for new '24 models, what do ya do? Ya slash the prices to lure that non Jeep customer (like me) in.

But Jeep is preventing this happening to the '24 so only time will tell whether the '24's will still fly off the dealer lots or become stagnent in Dec '24 and the same fate happens again cos they need to bring in '25 model but lot is occupied with '24 models.

And one of the reasons why I might lease a 23 diesel instead. No telling how bad the depreciation will run in next 2-3 years and Gladiator might be the next Ram 1500.

And the Subaru Outback Wilderness has 10" clearance. My brother takes his to probably 70-80% of the trails I go on on my JTR, but it sure doesn't look as good as my JTR, and given that I use it in my fieldwork, the Subaru wouldn't work. You're right though, most don't really use if off road. I'm virtually the only JT in our NM off-road club. Many CJs, Wranglers etc., but few JTs.

Having said all that, I did just trade for a 24 JTR (not X) and got 9.6% off MSRP, the didn't charge to install the Mopar lift and tonneau, and sold them to me at the Mopar discounted price, so there are some deals out there on 24s, but you're right in December it will be like it is now with the 23s on the lot.

I am in the same boat. I have a Gas Willy's and I have been holding off doing mods to it as I watch the prices. I am pretty close to pulling the trigger on trading mine in for a Diesel Rubicon before I start adding a bunch of stuff to mine since that is what I wanted in the long run but couldn't get when I was in the market for one because of the Recall. That deal looks pretty good and is close to what the prices are around here.

I just traded my 22 for a 24 JTR (wanted an AT) and removed all my mods except the lift, which the dealer installed a new Mopar lift with no labor cost. It's a bit of work, but saves thousands. You won't have the back pain of doing that.

Yeah, I got the "middle KBB" trade number for my 22 JTR for a 24 JTR (moved from a MT to an AT - fing clutch).

Deals are good enough I finally sold my 14 JKUR that I was planning on holding onto for a few more years. I went out of state and got everything I wanted in a Far Out Edition except the Trail Cam. 77.6K MSRP. Pruchase was 23.9% off MSRP. No trades. This was mid-feburary so I'm sure there are better deals now if you are willing to compromise on options.
