Until battery companies start actually using humane sources for cobalt, I’m not buying an EV. Bad enough we all need phones, laptops, and any other items that require conflict minerals. The world is a messy place. I’m frustrated and sad just thinking about it all lol.

Short answer is no!

Long answer is no!

I do not understand why I have to pay for your EV, if you really believe in EV than you would pay for it and not ask for Rebates…Tax savings…YOU would reach in your pockets not mine.

The arguments about if it’s good/bad for the environment can go on forever just please don’t feel as if you need my money or turn our Republic into Socialism so that you can say “Uncle Sam bought it for me”.

Please don’t ask me to pay for places to recharge.

I worked for a State University and they had charging stations where you could charge up for “free”. I paid for that, I should not have to

Thanks for asking!

I am a long term Porsche owner, and our next one will likely be an EV, especially now that we have a small truck for the dog, dump runs, and moving shit to and from our summer residence (boat). My P sales guy actually had a couple Taycans on the Felicity Ace last spring and he was seriously trying to sell one to me, luckily, or not, for me I went looking for a small truck instead.

I’m also an engineer by profession and education, and less impressed by the it can’t be done arguments. I am old enough to have been working before the PC and was involved in the use of mainframe computers. According to the experts then, the PC was a neat toy that the most would only ever be used for word processing. Look how wrong the experts were. I trust the stockholders of the major auto builders who are betting their money on an EV future have all given this far more thought than I have and recognize change will happen. And let’s not forget you can substitute automobile for EV, gas station for charging station, and horse, buggy and livery stable for the status quo and have a near verbatim copy of the argument why the auto would never take hold.

I haven’t considered the impact of tax savings, my Porsches have all leaned towards the toy category and judging by the technology and infrastructure improvements from just the last two years, waiting for me to tire of the P4S seems like a good strategy. And given the temporary nature of these things my plan would be to evaluate what was available when decision time comes.

Cash in on a EV tax credit to financially lose out at the end. These EV's are not lasting forever. Look up what a tie rod end cost for a Tesla. Not available? You mean I have to buy an entire steering sector for thousands $$. There's no installing that yourself either. It needs to be assigned to the car and software has to be loaded. That is one example of many. Batteries are not the only issue depleting your wallet. Cash it now and pay for as long as you own it.

The only way to sort of "Cash in" is if you trade in every year or two to avoid the high dollar maintenance events.

This is my take. I think the technology is great, but right now, it's not for everyone. Shame on the Government for putting out a tax credit for the financially savvy group. Don't see many EV's in the trailer parks.

I think the EV movement may shoot itself in the foot w/ the lack of charging infrastructure. People just aren’t patient or considerate enough to deal with so few chargers (when they are working).
Besides, less than 1/2 own their own house, where are they supposed to charge?
Soon the excess demand will cause cost of electricity to skyrocket for everyone.

EV is not a good fit for me.

I like my diesels. Wish my JL and JT would roll coal like my compound turbo Cummins trucks do.

To answer OP yes, but most likely for a PHEV. My neck of the woods the charging infrastructure is not there yet. I also see a lot of comments from people who never actually drove an EV in their life, go test drive one than we wil talk like adults.

That bit about "emissions" and "bad for the environment" has been disproven, actually. There's a number of scientific articles that actually come from decent sources and debunk the "I hate EV" web sites.

But this thread isn't about your hate of EVs or hybrids. It's about learning some facts about credits and so on.

Besides, electric will kick your butt in the 0-60 acceleration bit.

This thread was informational, not to convince anyone. There's other I hate EV threads.
Nothing’s going to change the fact that 150k people of the DRC are working harsh conditions with little PPE for $1-2 a day mining cobalt because EV “green”. Only exception is if the EV cobalt is all sourced from Australia.

When I can tow 2 cords of firewood and 2 tons of horse feed 500 miles on a single charge I'll trade the diesel
