I have a 2020 sport. I have not done anything with the auto start/stop I just turn it off when I get in. this morning I noticed the light was not lit when I turned it off, ok burned out light maybe, so I pushed it again. Nothing, so while driving around I tried to get it to work, jeep would not turn off when i stop at a light. It acts like it not even there. Any ideas? I glad its not working but I dont want to be some where and wham I am stranded.

Can you see the page on the dash for ess? Does it say battery charging? Perhaps something else? Just a dozen or so reasons will keep the ess from working. Due to the age, the batteries are of concern, but that would be assuming you have not replaced them yet.

If it is a battery issue, try disconnecting both batteries masking sure not to short the cables on anything. Charge each battery separately, reset the ibs by unplugging it, reconnecting the cables( after charging) and plug the ibs back in. Drive for 20 or 30 min and it may start to work. What this is telling you, is that one or both of your batteries is near end of life.

If something else is preventing the ess from working, select the start stop display page to see what it is.

Probably the auxillary battery.
Why? Because that's what "everyone says" even though it's generally not?

Like @Lost1wing said - up/down left steering wheel and scroll to the ESS (auto stop/start) page.
He's got some good advice in his post and I'd do that before taking any long trips just to be sure of the simple stuff.
If there's a battery issue it generally will say "Auto stop/start not ready, battery charging".
If it doesn't say anything it could be anything from a detected misfire to cat converters not hot enough to any one of at least 2 dozen other issues causing it.
What it's doing is telling you there is a problem.
What that problem is? Anyone's guess unless that screen tells you what it is.
Otherwise, only an app like AlfaOBD (if it can) or a dealer can tell what condition isn't being met, or what malfunction there is causing it.
If it detects a misfire, as one example, it may kill the auto stop/start and not even set the MIL on the dash!

If you want a super simple thing to check - park the truck, open the hood and connect a decent volt meter and see what the voltage is.
Could be you don't drive enough LONG enough, FAR enough to keep the batteries charged, or one or both could be going bad - or, if the voltage is 12.4 or higher, there's another issue with the truck.

You have a 2020, the batteries are probably over 3 years old - that's REALLY good life out of these.

Are you wearing your seatbelt? It’s deactivated if it’s not buckled.

This is very important!!!!!
I did this very thing. Cost me many issues and $ including tow to dealership after shorting 100 amp fuse array.
