My dealer, when I picked up the truck, warned me that a brush car wash will quickly destroy the seal between the freedom panels. Just an FYI. My Jeep has worn a Sunrider since week 2, but I still don’t use the automatic carwash.

True. Plus it doesn't matter how clean you think things are, whipping a rag or brush across paint causes wear. I've seen it, I've talked to professional body shop owners who say "don't do it". They say spray it off, blow it off, whatever, then wash with known clean cloths.
You don't know what's trapped in the ends of the rag type things that whip your paint. Even dust scratches (proof is in the "wash me" you can see on some vehicles where it was only DUST they wrote it in)

Do what you want, but my vehicles will never see any car wash that touches the car or truck.
Only I will touch it - with cloths made for car washing that are clean.
I guess I don't get why people won't spend the time or money to take care of the paint but will go through a car wash that whips the dirt against the paint.

The paint on my car is nearly 10 years old and yet looks like new save where I messed up by trying to wipe dust off one spot. It was dust, and in the right light, you can see the spot.

That's a bit different than beating it to death trying to clean it.
Use is one thing, abuse is another.
Besides, most of the scratches you refer to will be horizontal and not real parallel.
Those are called earned stripes.
