I have only had my new Gladiator for a month and a half, so I am new to the Jeep world other than my wife's Cherokees and now G Wagoneer. I have been reading a lot about the whole Aux battery issue and wondering what I should do. I have had a couple of Cummins Ram which of course have dual batteries. I have never had both go bad at the same time. When one dies it is best to replace both. But this is different with two different batteries with two separate duties. I have been wondering whether I should delete or not. After reading this whole thread I think I will leave well enough alone for a while. I like another on this thread I also ride a motorcycle so my Jeep sits a lot. I will be doing a float/maintainer. I also would be more inclined to suspect the aux battery when things start to go south. I have not had motorcycle or tractor batteries live a long time, two years is pretty much the case. Not that the main battery can't be the one that goes bad. I find it strange that Stellantis has replaced batteries on warranty. Who knows what they have been through. In my ming batteries are an expendable item.
An aside, I ride Moto Guzzis and late model versions have been reported to not start when voltage in the battery approaches 10 volts. The motor cranks but doesn't start. It seems the ecu will not activate the ignition system in this case. Guys will chase all kinds of things to find the problem. Even though we will advise them to replace the battery. They say it tests fine and they replace and fiddle with all kinds of things. We then them to check the voltage when cranking, yup 10 volts. New battery, fires right up. A lot of things can be engineered in that we don't know about.
