So I didn't get the aux switches on mine... Now I'm thinking maybe I should have as I am planning modifications. Is it possible to have the OEM Aux Switches added? If not, how do most people go about not having this feature on the past? Do they just wire up a new aftermarket switch for each thing they add?

How hard is the install? What is up with the required flash from the dealer? Thanks!

Very easy to install. The flash is required so your radio knows it there and you can change the settings for how you want to use the switches. I ordered my switches from the dealer as they beat all other prices so did the flash for free.

Thank you! So if I don't have the fancy radio I won't need the flash.
Even the base radio has the AUX function layer so you would still need a flash for it.

For those of you unfamiliar...there are a number of companies that make auxiliary switch sets for JEEPS (and other vehicles).

One of the best (and most expensive) is sPOD (pronounced ess-pod) https://www.4x4spod.com/ excellent quality priced accordingly. There are others too and I don't have time to list them but you can find them here and elsewhere online

I am having the dealer install the aux switches as part of my purchase, apparently though the wires inside are not the same as if you factory ordered them, as an after build add, the inside BATT and ACC wires are not included, so just the 4 AUX wires (Same as under the hood), not really a big deal, but wanted to post in case others were wondering, I was making plans for the BATT and ACC wires, but will shift ideas now I suppose.

Watch these three videos a few dozen times. It will seem overwhelmingly complicated at first, but it's really not that bad once you wrap your head around everything that's going on.

And, two other things to keep in mind:

1. Other third parties may have simpler installs, but you lose the ability to 1) configure the buttons using your screen, and 2), you also cannot have different buttons set to ignition or battery. All the options I've looked at (Voswitch, etc), you either have battery power permanently, or ignition power only.

2. Yes, a flash is needed to get your truck to recognize that an aux bank has been installed, but the dealer isn't the only way to do that. For about $50, you can get a bluetooth OBD adapter, and a license from the JScan app and turn them on yourself. Tazers will also do the same thing.

Those are great videos — thank you.

I couldn't find anything, anywhere, on how to actually release the pin / orange wire from the connector. It seems to be a problem many people are having, given the number of horror stories of broken connectors, and ESS and other faults.

After some messing about, I managed to release it without screwing up the connector housing. Here's a quick pic showing what I believe to be the release tab. You have to engage the slot at the end of the red arrow and lift gently while pulling on the orange wire.

Hope this helps someone.
