I got the exhaust on tonight, install was a breeze everything fit perfectly. Hardest part was getting the stock out from under the jeep. But I’m really impressed with the exhaust. Initial impression is that it is a very smooth tone, no rasp whatsoever. No drone. And when cruising at highway speeds you can’t here it at all. But when you stomp on it, it def lets you know it’s there. I wouldn say it’s overbearing at all, for when some people say it’s to loud. My f150 prior to this had the 5.0. I had a banks monster with a resonator delete pipe. I know that’s an apple to oranges comparison to sound, I’m just trying to get across that your ears don’t ring at all. This is just smooth. Videos on YouTube honestly don’t do it justice. To me it sounds completely diff in person than what it does online. And I even liked the videos and sound clips online. It has a real sporty sound to it. Someone can correct me if they think I’m wrong. But it sounds like the stock exhaust is just turned up with a mix of like a 350 or g35. My buddy says to him it sounds like the new Supra to an extent. But overall I’m thrilled with it so far. Awe and other people have said it mellows out over 1000 miles or so. So I’m very curious to see how it changes. Good job Awe!

Put my awe exhaust on this morning, went with the dual tip tread version. Install went well...like others have said, worst part was getting the stock exhaust out. Sheared the stock bolt you have to reuse where the awe mates up with stock pipe near the cat, so had to run to the store for a replacement. All the rest of the bolts torque to 60 ft/lb, but not that one!

Did both the exhaust and a k&n blackhawk cai this morning and absolutely love the sound. Again just like others said, beautiful growl on start up that mellows out, gentle on the gas produces a nice mild sound, getting on the gas gets you a nice roar that isn't obnoxious at all...loud but not raspy. At cruise it's really not noticeable, very comfortable on the ears. The dual tips look amazing, very well tucked in behind the (mojave stock) tires, I'll take them off for off trips, just in case. Can't wait to see how it looks with 37's and recessed fenders.

In all I am VERY happy with this exhaust, it is exactly what I was hoping for!

How did you get the sheared bolt out? I just did the same thing installing the AWE Y Pipe. I spent about an hour trying to get it out with vice grips and WD40 but it did not work....my truck now sounds like a POS. Why Jeep would make one side with through bolts and one with weld on is beyond me....make no sense

Ugh, that sucks...
Mine was not welded so I was able to get a new bolt and reuse the clamp.

So I finally pulled the trigger and put the AWE Tread edition single exit on this weekend. I like the sound a lot. I gotta say, though, it's loud. I'm not disappointed at all but it's definitely noticeable. I wonder if the configuration of the tail pipe (dual tread, single tread, trail) has much to do with perceived volume of the exhaust?

In any case, I have a slight "drone" around 2,500 or 3,000 rpms right now. From what I have read that will mellow out with some mileage. Once that happens, this thing is going to be perfect. It almost sounds exotic, in a way.

That drone will disappear very quick. I noticed it in the beginning as well. Went away real fast. I have the trail edition. I agree sounds exotic to an extent. Quiet when you’re not on it. But when you get into it you know it’s there! Love the sound! I was very hesitant with having a family. No complaints from them at all about the noise level. My wife didn like it at first. Just from the aspect of this doesn’t sound like your f150 at all. She just wanted the v8 sound. But we went to Rausch last weekend and she really likes the sound of it now. It’s grown on her.

I haven't noticed any drone with the dual tread version, have about 1k miles on it so far. Still can't wipe the stupid grin off my face every time I get on it...

Didn’t notice any drone on my dual exit version either. It is pretty loud under acceleration but I’ve grown to like it a lot. It’s not very loud on start up at all.

For those who’ve had V8 exhausts in the past it’s just a totally different sound…basically strongly accentuating the pitch that the Pentastar comes to begin with.

One other note - the quality of the hardware, tubing and tips is really spectacular. I was worried about the tips being behind the rear tires but so far they’re holding up great.

Drone isn't the right word. It is just very loud right at about 3k RPMs under modest acceleration just before it shifts. It's relatively tame when it's being babied and sounds absolutely phenomenal at WOT. It's definitely not a V8 and I'm pretty sure I like it...?

Any updates gents? Would love to see some videos from members. Looking at pulling the trigger on the Trail but worried about long trips towing my trailer.

I have the trail version. Drove to New Mexico from Louisiana, no drone issues. At speed it is tame. When you accelerate, it says hello. Not obnoxious by any means.

Odd request, but how does it sound if you're cruising at 2500-2900 rpm? I light tow (~2,500lb) with my MT a decent bit and frequently cruise in 4th gear @ 2500+rpm, especially if it's hilly and I don't feel like shifting constantly.

I've been eyeballing the AWE Trail for a bit now.

So after reading all of your posts, I jumped in there and got the trail edition. I am very happy with the quality and install was a snap. Overall very happy with the ability to hear the low rpms (6 speed) very necessary. Its a tad loud above 3000rpms when towing but I am getting used to it, not really a drone but loud.
Two things I noticed right off the bat that I haven't seen anyone else post about. My throttle response dropped off just a touch but it most definitely pulls better over 1800rpms.
Last but not least, over the last two tanks of fuel I've logged better than a 10% bump in mileage.
Side note, I've been running non-ethanol since day one averaging 16.5-18mpg. Filled up today sitting at 19.5mpg in town. It'll be interesting to see what I get on the highway.
