thats actually a good idea! Lol I got some plastidip, I may have to try that out
I'm thinking that would black it out (not that it is a necessarily bad thing...) - if you do go that route for a test, let us know how it goes.

Anyone know how to pop those covers off?

I think the goal would be to black out the bottom. Taking out would help

gotcha....I haven't really looked...are those lights mainly for lighting up the plate (without the traditional downlight from above)? (and for lighting up the bumper and hitch of course when needed)

Planning on modding up something on the 3D printer that (hopefully) can slide in and shield.

@Joker4L, are you pretty sure it's the bottom that is causing the glare? Mine looks more like the top one from my informal testing....see attached photo.

Also, has anyone figured out how to slide the light out from underneath? Crawled under there yesterday...saw a few tabs, but no amount of squeezing and jimmying would make it come out...betting there are a few I can't see......

Yes I covered the top of the lights on mine and it did the trick

By covering the bottom one it worked for me so it looks like covering either the top or bottom does the trick.

I would think something like this would be the best solution. A hood over the light (between camera and light). To allow full light, but eliminate direct light glare to the camera. Just and example of what I mean.

Lol. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. How do design engineers still f*ck up simple concepts like this? For the cost of cars these days i expect more. Here's a shot of a brand new charger backup cam. Guess it's not just Jeep, it's FCA. My fords dont do this.

I had this issue on another car where I actually installed the license plate camera. I also installed a relay that would turn off the license plate light when the rear lights came on.
Do you have a wiring diagram for what you did? Sounds like a better solution. Certainly don't need the plate lit up while backing up!

I don’t. I will say it needed a NC Relay.
