This forum has been the worst thing that has happened to my bank account!! ? Parts continue to pile up and I now find myself looking at a Bak Revolver X4S tonneau cover. I would like to hear some reviews on Revolver X4S.

It COULD be great but it has its flaws. A few minor things. I'm about to join the group of people who had their back corner pieces fall off, they are barely hanging on now. They have a good product with crappy quality control so it's a roll of the dice when you order it. And for the price it shouldn't be the case.

Mine has been flawless. It was on the truck when I bought it, so I have no idea who installed it, pro or previous owner.

Mine has also been flawless since I installed it over a year ago. I LOVE this cover.

Sorry OP. Nothing bad to say about mine. Installed it myself about a year ago.

Installed mine in April. Other than needing new corner pieces which broke during shipment it has been great. FYI, the replacement corner pieces were sent FAST and so I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the x4s. Love it. Fits great, rolls nice. Easy easy install.

Also if you need a rack, the Elevate FS rack will fit the x4s according to the manufacturer who I emailed back and forth with. Because the x4s for the gladiator comes with T slots it will fit in those. The x4s does not have T slots in some other trucks but it does for the gladiator.

Reading a couple comments about the corner pieces. Are these the pieces on the ends of the rails by the tailgate? Does the X4S keep water out while driving in the rain?

not totally. I would only have issues with things getting wet on the bottom, but I set the stuff on boards that I keep in the bed and my stuff stays dry.

One of my corner pieces also fell off a year after install. I called the company and they sent out a pair ASAP. They said it can happen during shipping. Didn’t cost me a thing and I got them in a couple days. I use Billie Bars with my X4s and it is great. I had to add extra sealing foam tape but it is waterproof in the bed.

Thanks guys, I went ahead and ordered the X4S. Got a great deal from Alex@RealTruck on this forum.
Alex is amazing to work with. I actually just sold my X4S yesterday for a Softopper after a year. It was a great looking cover and convenient if I had items that could actually fit under it. My issues were:

1. It leaked water quite a bit and it appears to be a design issue…I live in the PNW so this was a huge disappointment

2. When rolled up it took up enough room at the cab where on a number of hauls I was unable to shut the tailgate by a mere inches

3. I determined I really needed a Softopper instead so I could actually keep things dry in the winter time due to size of cargo and lack of water tightness. (Again…constantly wet over half the year)

4. I could tell how the end caps could be an issue. Mine started to get a bit wonky as well but no failure.

cheers

just installed mine yesterday. Is there supposed to be this much of a gap by the tailgate? Also - used these knobs Bak sent me instead of locking nut - Bak if you read this by chance is that okay or do I need to go with the lock nut? Thanks! By the way Alex is awesome to deal with and their CS has been phenomenal. I was sent the wrong hardware twice and situation was quickly resolved

I was thinking about replacing the Nylocks with knobs as I do pull the cover off once in a while. Good to know Bak is going that direction (the nut and washers they provided were too small for the slots in the bracket anyway).

As for the gap at the tailgate, nope - mine isn't like that. Maybe try sliding the cover back just a bit?

It also looks like you have the factory bedliner? Many of us have had problems with the supplied foam adhesive strip not sticking to that liner very well. May want to keep an eye on that. I ended up installing a denser 2nd foam strip at the front of the bed along side the supplied one. And used adhesive promoter. Holding so far (5 mo. or so). It cut down on a lot of the water infiltration at the front too. Still having some issues along the sides sadly. But not a deal killer. I am in the PNW too so not surprised some rain gets in.

The plastic corner pieces are ludicrous. Jut a poor design choice. Bak really needs a redesign and do a retrofit kit in my opinion. But Bak gladly ships out new ones whenever you ask so I'll give them that.

Thanks for the reply! If I move the cover back more worries it will stick out past the end brackets... do you have any pics of the back of yours by chance? Thanks again for your insights and help!

The double side tape on the front foam strip doesn't stick to the spray in bedliner. Other than that no issues so far and looks great installed.
