I have the vasic radio in the Sport version and it is terrible. The volume dial doesn’t work until the car has been running for 2 minutes. The clock will be five minutes off in a week. It’s so slow to register that you pushed a button. Unreal.

I stepped away from a base model because of the manual locks and windows and that radio

The Uconnect 5.0 series radios have been a pig in poke situation across other models it has been used in also. Flip of a coin whether a warranty replacement will be better.

If me, I would be looking into a Uconnect 7.0 or 8.4 conversion mod upgrade

What's that got to do with it?

There are TSBs about those things, and updates likely available. Yes, go to dealer, they should be able to fix it. Your experience is not normal.

There's a difference between Basic and buggy and slow.

Ugh even the 7 and 8.4 suck. They are water resistant which is nice but uconnect in Chrysler is just poorly developed. Apple car play and android auto both made poor decisions with using it In windowed mode and having a smaller border around car play instead of full screen. Honestly best going after market.

Pretty much agree with you. Just the 5.0 radio is in a league of it's own in terms of suck in my opinion.

If was an audiophile I would say aftermarket also.

Oddly I have not experienced any major issues with it, I stick my flash drive with flac files in the USB and I have it set to randomly play the songs and generally control it with the steering wheel.

On the off chance I wish to find a specific album I use the knobs to speed scroll, rather than using the touch screen.

Sounds like his basic is buggy and slow. They are basic, but his has problems beyond that.

Going against the grain here...I have the 5.0 and I'm pretty happy with it other than the small display for the backup camera...everything else it totally serviceable for a basic setup...
That was my point. I guess I wasn't clear. A 5 inch radio should work fine. Being slow and buggy I'm sure is not part of the deal when you get the 5 in radio. It should be basic. But it shouldn't be useless because its buggy and slow.

Yeah, like Don was pointing out - basic is one thing but the OP's radio has problems that can be resolved in most cases.
As a basic sound system, they still work fine - except for his.
Those issues should not be present. And there are bulletins out there on some of what he described.
