So, the Gladiator has a dual battery setup from the factory with a small accessory battery, right? But, since I have the Diesel you can't do an aftermarket dual battery setup according to Genesis. So, has anyone replaced the primary with a larger AGM (Odyssey, Optima, etc) and then looked for a larger capacity smaller footprint battery (lithium, AGM, etc) to replace the second one with? I'm thinking with a large amount of accessories, winches that put excessive load on batteries, etc its smart to at least do an in-place upgrade.

The second (small) battery is for the ESS system. It is there to keep the computers stable during an ESS event. If you want a battery to run accessories, get a Cole Hersee 48530 Smart Isolator and mount another battery on the truck. I put a battery box behind the right rear wheel and used a 20 foot Warn Quick Connect cable kit. I don't know what the under hood space is like for the diesel compared to the gas model, so you might have to get creative to get everything mounted.

The best kit on the market is from genesis offroad, I have known Shane for years and he makes very high quality battery kits. I have one in my truck.

the JT kit from genesis removes the little battery from the truck and replaces both of them with group size 34s iirc. And it has way more mounting plates for accessories over stock.

take a look at their install video, it's very informative.

You didn't read my post. I have a Diesel. You can't do the Genesis kit.

I'm not likely to mount a 2nd battery in the bed. The Diesel has zero room under the hood. No prob. Upgrade both and snag a PowerBank instead. Thanks!

My second Battery is attached to the frame, under the bed.

Without room under the hood for devices, the best option (for now) is to replace the main battery with a higher capacity one.

I would love to see a picture of how you did that. I assume you bought or built a battery box and then placed it inside? That's an interesting idea. I have a steel battery box and a smaller AGM battery that might work perfect for that. I was originally intending to use it for a UTV project, but this might be a cooler way to do this and have the principle accessory draw pull from it first to save the starting battery.
