Thanks very much. Just would rather ask questions than break things. First Beadlock, and never watched anyone previously. There was a tiny gap at 10lbs on the bolts, almost none at 18, and I think it’s gone at 25, which is the final torque recommendation. I went over them three times per step. And I put air in! I know. Boring. But exiting for me. My first one. Only 5 hours to dismount, clean the old and new wheel (used), remove stem in wheel, install new TPMs, mount tire, tighten ring, and put air in. So only 20 more hours for the other 4.The bolts will pull it down
The gap wasn’t 3/4”. The bead bundle total was. I’d say the gap was 5/16”.If you’re referring to the anti-coning ring I’d probably error on the side of caution. 3/4” is a fairly large gap when you’re relying on something to be clamped down or fly off your vehicle….
And the antiseize doesn’t help them loosen? I was actually considering using orange threadlocker.I've got about 100k road miles on beadlocks at this point, and I always balance them normally. Almost any shop will balance just nothing else with them.
As for the gap just get a feeler gauge if you want to be extra sure and test it out once you hit torque spec. If your wheels are just threaded into aluminum then make sure to use anti-seize. If they have a helicoil you can get away with out it but I always give them the paste anyways. Just make sure you reduce the torque spec by 20-25% if you anti-seize.
I also check the torque after 3-500 miles and hit the few bolts that loosened slightly. After that I have never had loose bolts again.
Nope, just makes sure you don't end up destroying the aluminum with galvanic corrosion. I consider the bolts sacrificial as they're going to get replaced every other tire set or so and I'm prioritizing keeping the threads in good fashion.And the antiseize doesn’t help them loosen? Agreed. The one last night is going to get it added. I’ll pull a single bolt at a time and add it to the the rest today will be mounted with it, but stopping at 20 ft lbs with it I guess.
