Bed front plug as pass through for cables

Wondering if anyone has used the two plugs toward outside lower corner of bed front panel as a cable or hose pass through? Looking down between cab and bed its clearly a plastic plug but mine is spray-lined in place. I haven't really tried yet to get it out but thought it may provide a protected pass through.

I think the problem is any load that slides around is likely to hit that area. The sides near the tail gate are easy as a use to access and in a lower probability to be hit area. But that is my guestimation. Not done it and not sure I would want to. Likely just run it back to the rear corner if I add power.
