I'm looking at a half-height bedrack. Any regrets from anyone who went half vs full height?

half height is frustrating when i go to transport literally anything.

buut the half height keeps my tent just about in line with the softtop so it doesn't cause too much drag sticking out.

What would you be using the rack for? RTT or other stuff?

I'm kinda weighing the same options right now. We're moving to Denver next year and will be getting two kayaks and two bikes. Don't think we'd really be using a RTT. But for single to couple day trips or whatnot, I'm kinda thinking I'd need full height so the kayaks could go over the roof as well. Don't know if we'd really be carrying kayaks and bikes at same time, but I'd probably go route of hitch mount for the bikes.
I know there's options to carry kayaks in the bed, but I'd still want the bed accessible. (Not to mention the pain with racks and my Mopar hard tri-fold tonneau cover limits me to Voodoo/Max Modular brand).

Outside of disliking the look of the half racks, I am a full rack guy. Love a good, full rack! LOL I have beed contemplating this for a year or so (Rack vs only bed with tonneau cover) With all the research I have done, most people who went with half racks, regretted it afterwards.

I pulled the trigger last night and ordered a full rack with the extra molle panel kit. Will post pictures I am sure when I get it all installed. Is supposed to arrive this wednesday

I’m going full rack so I can put an awning on it and not have to duck while walking under it…

Old , old thread (4 years) but I bet the argument for half or full height still is going on. I’m a full height or better year a cap so much more dry secure storage….Jack

I went half height on my build. I'm going to echo what everyone else was saying: pain in the ass to transport anything, keeps roof top tent just below or at the roof line to help with drag, etc. However, I took it one step further.

I wanted to run a fridge slide in the bed b/c sliding an 80lb fridge on the bed liner is a giant pain, plus the fridge and slide wouldn't fit under the tonneau cover. I went to a local guy that made boat awnings and he came up with this gem...
