Not trying to derail your goal. Just curious. Why don’t you want it underneath? Departure angle?

A little bit of that, but I'm going to get 38" Patagonias and they won't fit underneath from what I understand

Ah. Just curious. For what it’s worth, my 37’s fit fine, even at full articulation. I did get the clayton bent rear track bar to make sure. No issues. The heat shield is still even in place. I’d guess you’d have a shot at it, depending on the actual diameter of that tire model. Mine are about 36.5 when not on the ground and at 35-37psi.

I've got 37" Coopers and have been hauling the spare around in the bed. Have you, or anyone, ever seen a weight limit on what one can carry in the spare space? These 37's are freaking heavy. I've gone full old man, i'm 54, when it's time for rotation i take the truck to Discount and let them do it. First time i have not done this myself. I go get coffee or go for a mtn bike ride. Come back, drive away with my back still in tact.

Thanks

Mine aren’t the heaviest. I looked it up once, but my wheels also aren’t very heavy. The last time I winched it up there, I paid close attention, and the winch did not appear to struggle even a little. But that might be different for some of those crazy heavy wheels out there.

Thanks Dan.
I dont think there is a 'light' 37, just some are 'less heavy'. This is a lot of rubber.
Maybe this week i'll give it a try. I need to do it soon, the days are starting to heat up here in the desert. Need to plan my trips for SW CO.

Thanks much

Mine are 80lbs, which isn’t terrible. My OE Falkens were 50.5. I’m helping things by running lightweight stock rubicon wheels. But you’re right, they’re a bit heavy in general. I’m not worried about 30 extra pounds with the spare hoist though. They’re built to hold under terrible driving conditions, so are likely over built.

It will fit. it just depends on what track bar you have in the rear. Matt from Ozark overland adventures has 38 Patagonias that he just put on and he fit the spare under the bed. He also has the Clayton rear track bar though so that' is a factor. If you head over to his youtube page and ask about it in the comments he is pretty responsive

Thanks!

So i've heard the Clayton and Metalcloak track bar allows this. I will check with my lift company before I buy another one
