My Gladiator didn't come with the "Trail Rails." After reading up about them, I have decided I want a set. I've found several aftermarket options... Terraflex, Red Rock, even several on Amazon (the cheapest by far at around $150-200). Did I miss any? I'm wondering if one set might be better than another? I'm hesitant to try the Amazon ones, BUT, maybe it's worth a try for half the price.

Thoughts?

Keep in mind that aftermarket toppers and racks are designed to work with the dimensions of the OEM rails, and aftermarket rails can differ in shape and slot size for hardware, so you may have to do some modifications for fitting them.

Not trying to sway you from aftermarket, just noting a potential issue.

Unistrut or equivalent. Want the most carefree, go with stainless steel.

Strut nuts and other hardware are available everywhere and you can adapt just about anything to it.

Thanks!! I was about ready to order the Rebel Offroad ones but they want $45 shipping when other places are free. I'll keep looking a little longer. Don't have to have them THIS minute.

Been happy with Teraflex Unita Trail Rails for the last 3+ years.

I just happen to be looking at bed rail options and this is on my list. I have a spray in bed liner so need to figure out who to clean that up first. One review I read the guy used an M6 1.00 tap.

Interested to know what rack systems folks have used with the Terraflex without modification.

EDIT: sorry for the Hijack OP

Thanks!

someone mentioned something important above - that mopar rails fit more tonneau covers than some other brands due to size.

the rebel offroad rails DO support some tonneau while also utilizing their bed rack.

my question to you would be what kind of build are you going for? I have an xplor half rack that looks awesome and has served well but I am planning to transition to Smartcap and need to find some reviews of the rails working with the clamps

Another vote for the Teraflex Unita Rails. I just added them to my bed and LOVE them. Plus, think the bed hooks are the best ones around. However, as JRobes pointed out, if you have a cover, the fit may not be straight bolt-on.

I have the tri fold Mopar tonneau with the terraflex bed rails. The only time it is a problem is when the sliding mounts are right in the way of the hold down lock spring handles

I had stock one in my Launch Edition. My new Rubicon did not have any so I got these. Bolted right and work fine. They get used every weekend.

I think most tonneaus work with most aftermarket utility rails since the tonneau brackets mount into the bed itself, not the utility rails. But some toppers and racks have brackets with holes/hardware specifically designed to bolt into the OEM utility rails slots, so I've seen people have fitment issues there.

i've got some from Built Right Industries.

They were about $275 and free shipping when I bought them. they seem to basically be custom unitstrut. The one thing I did not research or pay attention to before trying to install them (when you have spray in bed liner) is to clear out the holes. so I snapped a bolt in one when applying too much ugga ugga from a torque power ratchet. so when weather warms up i'll have fun extracting the broken bolt and then clearing out any bedliner from the holes before retrying.
