Better Gas Mileage?

I have a Gladiator Rubicon. Pretty much stock at this point. I have decided to start using non ethanol gas in it to maybe get a bit better fuel mileage. I normally get about 20 to 21 MPG now if I drive like an old man. (I am an old man, so I am allowed to drive like that, LOL!). Anyway, I drove over to a Home Depot store about 25 miles from my home to pick up a couple of things and drove really easy. Probably averaging about 54 MPH in a 55 MPH posted zone and less in the 45 MPH posted zones. Additionally, I just added a new AVS hood protector. I was surprised that I got about 3 MPG more than normal. Could it be the non ethanol gas, maybe. However I think the new AVS hood protector has helped my brick shaped Gladiator become an aerodynamic brick! Anyone else have better

results MPG wise with a AVS hood protector on their Gladiator?

I’m simply impressed you got 20/21 period. On my stock Rubicon here in the below freezing temps of the upper Midwest I’ve barely gotten 16 (according to the truck’s calc) since I bought it last December. About the only head scratcher I’ve had with the truck.

Running 100% gasoline will often provide slightly better fuel economy, but it's more expensive. If greater range is your objective, cool. But it likely won't save you any money.

I really drive easy. Take off easy, do the speed limit or slightly less by 1 or 2 MPH. Not too many drivers drive like I do. They all have to drive 5 to 10+ MPH more than the posted limit and take off fast and come up to a stop fast and slam on the brakes. Being retired, I don't get in a big hurry anymore. However, when I am on my HD Street Glide, I do drive or ride faster so as to not get run over!!!

They say that non ethanol gas burns better, up to 30% better. All I know that if I pay around 20 cents more per gallon and get better mileage, I am all for it. Plus, it is less corrosive and does not attract water like ethanol added fuels. I have had to replace small engine carbs that were bad because of ethanol added fuels that sit longer than I expected. That is until I smartened up and started using ethanol free fuel and added gasoline stabilizer every time I get the gas cans filled up for my zero turn, chipper, power washer, etc.

I am also impressed if I cruise mine I may get 18-19 mpg.

Last summer i was getting excellent mileage on the highway. This winter I have kept it mainly in 4 wheel drive. Still getting 16.5. Hopefully when we thaw out up here my excellent mileage will return.

Wow, that is excellent fuel mileage. However, I think you have the diesel engine. I just have the 3.6 gasoline engine. Either way, 27.5 is great fuel mileage for our bricks with wheels...LOL!!!

I get around 16mpg in the winter in the north east, in the summer get about 18mpg, auto with 4.10s on 35s, has here is E10

The bug deflector won't make any (or very much) difference. I added the Mopar deflector, and it doesn't even really help with bugs, let alone any change in economy.
Up here non-ethanol fuel runs 20-25% more, so even a moderate gain in fuel economy doesn't pay for itself.
The biggest difference you'll see is with improved driving habits.

I did an experiment yesterday. I had to drive a loop in the morning when it was about 0 and then again in the afternoon when it was about 30. It was literally the difference between 14.5 mpg and 16.6 mpg.

I hear all these stories of people getting close to 20. But then I realize that with the way I drive, my old previous car a Volvo sedan which weighed 1500 lbs less and was much more slippery only got 20 mpg. So 16ish is about expected.

Yours will improve in the spring, and even more once you get a few thousand miles in. As long as you keep it under 75, and keep your 33" tires, you'll see well over 20 once it warms up, and once the fuel blend changes too. I didn't see much of a decrease even on 35s, but my 35s are ATs, and my 33s were MTs, so it kind of balanced out.

That would be great. I can't believe it but I've got 4500 miles on it in just under 2 months. I typically drive about 12,000 miles per year so I'm running double almost so far.

My daughter's freestyle skiing schedule has me driving to different mountains on Saturday and Sunday. Its insane. I clocked 535 miles in one 36 hour period last week!! Ha.
