This is going to be controversial, but I am interested to hear what others think. I would, of course, drive a Jeep with black fender flares but the body color matched are far superior in my opinion. I hear a lot about them getting scratched on the trails, etc., but 'the look' can't be beat when not. Thoughts?

Black for me, painted look better, but they won't look better long if you're in the woods with it, and if you knock one off black will be much easier and less expensive.
This exactly.
If you loose or damage a fender flare its very costly to get it color matched.
Plus the black on (insert color) imo looks better. Looks more utilitarian which is my style.

Body color for me.

If the fenders are going to get scratched so is the truck body. The black fenders over time with the new plastic compound starts to turn from a black to a gray, this happened to my 2015 and i took very good care of them, nothing would prevent this or bring them back to black.

It’s not “controversial”. It’s simply personal preference which is often derived from intended use. No right or wrong answer when it comes to “looks”. Buy what you like.

Yup, love the look of the colored fenders, but after only 4000 miles, my black ones are sand blasted when you look and feel them. I'm so happy to have the black due to the amount of off road use my JT gets.

I agree with @TYJ . Personal preference. I thought I wanted them until I saw a rubicon in Bilit Silver with black fenders and the mud tires, fell in love, and yes, there was a fender colored one next to it same trim. And I don't think anyone here is settling for what they can get, not at these prices :) And the number unsolicited compliments are ridiculous, but appreciated :)

When I get the colored matched fender flares for my gladiator I am going to have them clear wrapped before I install them

I like the black molded fenders on my red Gladiator better than the all red fenders and roof ones I've seen. I like the black and red combo, looking for black and red rims to complete the look. To me the all color Jeeps look more like Mall Mom SUV's.

The only thing that makes me hesitate for a few seconds over the red fenders is the way the black fenders look with the black bug screen on the hood. That's a good look, but the red fenders seem sturdier.

Don't have one yet but I'm going black for a couple reasons.

Figure can grab black fenders all day if you need to replace them. Online, junk yard, the mall parking lot, etc. and slap then on yourself.

It's literally a shelf on the side of the Jeep, it will be used that way so no worrying about paint getting messed up when you or others put whatever on it.

I think it looks better, more aggressive.

I think the painted fender flares still look like cheap plastic sticking out but someone painted them trying to make it look better. Gives me almost an AutoZone accessory aisle feel. Not that bad but along those lines if you get what I'm trying to say.

Depends on Jeep color a good bit as well as far as what looks best. Painted looks great on white. Black looks great on orange. It's personal taste obviously.

I actually preferred the black fenders as to break up the monotone on Sting Gray. Had I got Bright White, I probably would have gone body color.
