You don't have to cut as much as the instructions say. Nice sharp set of side/wire cutters will make quick and clean work. Barely noticeable from a distance unless you know to look for it.

That looks pretty good not as noticeable. Are you able to take the cap on and off easily?

It is not really that difficult. As long as I remember to make sure the cap stays forward of the grill when I take it off, it is not hard to put back. The cap is a flexible material and can be moved into place easily.

Selling 2020, will install on 2023 when it arrives. Will have to cut a hole in brand new JT grill and hang their JL on the wall.
Very nice lock, just a shame the company coild give a damn about us JT owners. Happen to be searching BAM now for a replacement grill mid section for the 2020.
I would think this is something that you would leave with the vehicle, especially since it is keyed to the factory key and cannot be re-keyed. For the $100 it cost, I would not try to move it to a new vehicle. You can buy a clone for about half the cost of the Bolt lock.

Thank you, in the hurry, I was not sure I could reset it to a new key. Also, I did not think the appearance of a cut grill would appeal to buyers. As it turned out, prepped and detailed for pics, a dealer gave me a great top dollar for 73K Sport with a lift. Picked up the 23 yesterday and Eden, NC.

Did you buy and use the above product.?

I have not, but am considering it. I just found it when looking to see how much the Bolt lock cost.

Good luck opening that in the winter time If there isn't a cover to protect water from getting in there.
And indeed, there is a snap over cover with the kit. Not so with the locking hood clips. Yes, I did have to cut a small hole in my grill, but it's black on black. The whole thing is very subtle, thrives aren't likely to see it when they make a run at your truck, until it forces them to give up and move on. Nobody is picking this Bolt lock, the hood clip locks...

I cut the center section. It is actually a smaller hole than the one they send. Everything is black and its not something you really see.
I completely agree. I used my original, but don’t use their template. I used a sharp side cutter carefully and only removed what was needed. You don’t see it. @Mightytalldude even cut less than i did. His looks even better. He had mine to use as what not to do, quite as much. :)

I did the original cutout per the template. Too much IMO, so I ordered a replacement center grill insert, and did the cut my way. It works and looks good.

I also painted the pop rivits black, so they don't draw attention to the area. While I had everything off, I also touched up the paint on the radiator and the support bars, 4 years of use, they were a little faded and road debris sand blasted.

Just as an FYI, I installed the Bolt locks on my Gladiator and my 2024 JL and the "included" grill insert does not match either grille. Both require cutting. Not sure why Bolt is not updating their product line.

Installed the Bolt Hood lock today. No problem removing the grill, the rivets required some wheaties. Mine seems to sit a bit higher than the prior sets of pictures and I had to remove the bottom piece of the honeycomb above above and on the lock. I can get it on and off now with a little juggling. I painted the visible rivets black. It works, does what it should.

The problem how mine lines up. No way I could take the cover off without removing more honeycomb pieces. I almost cut the wrong piece, painted over the cut so it is not visible unless you are very close. I'm going to try to fill it in with some glue later.

This is after I took out another piece of the honeycomb. I can now open and close the cap, although it is tight.
