So we ended up pulling our Grand Design 18bh once and it was just a little to small for 2 adults 2 grandkids and 3 dogs, especially when my parents came to our campsite and hung out for a couple hours. It was 4200lbs dry and about 4800 lbs with all our stuff loaded in it. We ended buying a Grand Design Transcend 235BH today and it's 6010 dry weight. I thought it would do absolutely horrible on 37's with the stock gears pulling it back from Charleston SC to Kannapolis NC but it did surprisingly well. I averaged 10.8 pulling the smaller one and 9.3 pulling the bigger one all stock 4.10 gears and 37 12.5 17.

The transmission never got above 211 degrees and oil temp never got above 235. I probably averaged around 63 mph for trip. I did buy some 255 80 17 Falken wildpeaks that I'm gonna throw on when I tow but if I had to Id tow it to the beach and back again on the 37's

Have you checked all of your numbers? Your trailer is likely 6610 lbs loaded assuming, you load it like the former trailer. Add a spouse, two grandkids 3 dogs, trailer tongue weight, truck options like the 37 inch tires and you are well over the truck’s Gross Weight Rating. You’re probably over the Gross combined rating as well. What model Gladiator do you have?

Its a Sport Max Tow. He's fine. It's a GROSS rating too, not EXACT. There's a bit of wiggle room, take it slow and all is fine.

I did and it's under. We were at 6306 with the wife and I total weight . Add the Grand kids will add another 150lbs roughly and then the gear which we don't take much maybe 400lbs at best, and the dogs aren't even 100lbs for all 3, that would put me right around 7000lbs total. Tongue weight was 756lbs when we checked it. The tech at Blue Compass Charleston help me get everything setup before I left and he was really good with the numbers and showing me how to measure the truck and trailer and get the weight distribution right. It towed it like a boss back, I was surprised. I'll drop 100lbs in weight next time because I'll be running the 255/80/17.

Sweet man, yeah I should of towed more with mine before we went looking. I got cold feet on a few I would of liked to bought for our first one but didn't know how well the Jeep would handle it. Could of saved myself a few thousand dollars there but it is what it is. We got something now that we can really enjoy and that's what's important to me.

yeah I have the camper for my aunt and other family that wanna camp but don't wanna rough it overlanding. We got a piece of land in WV and a House in the Outer Banks. Helps a lot but the R pod is just to small and not disabled people friendly. The NOBO we looked at has a small slide out and Independent Curt offroad suspension. Should handle the beaches and back roads much better. Plus its more accommodating to my 6'5" ass. Just need to swap the shocks on the Rubi so it'll tow better. I want to get a Mod Buggy 12LRK for my Mojave.

I feel ya on the Rubicon shocks, I bought take offs and am running them and I think they are way to soft. I may end up putting my Max Tow Shocks back on since I still got them and they only got about 7,000 miles on them. Not sure how much better they may or may not be but since they had them on with the Max Tow Package I feel like they may be a little firmer ride. I have no data to back that up so please no one flame me for that statement

My Rubicon came with the Fox aluma body. They suck literal ass. I got some 23' Red body takeoffs that i need to put on this weekend. They are supposed to be a lot better. I don't wanna go too firm because my Aunt likes to take the Rubi if the weather is shit or her Highlander is at the dealer. She's too broken physically to drive something that'll beat her up. She's also the reason i can't lift it. I'll put on 35s tho when the 33s wear out and get some side steps. Its funny how i got a 22' Mini Cooper S as the family backup/my daily/roadtrip car. And no one touches it except for me. Rubicon is the go to lol.

Cool. I thought you might be like me and have a Rubicon or some other less tow capable model. Your setup is like mine. You’re pushing near the limits but not over. I have a Rubicon and a 5800lb trailer. I just came back from a trip to Anza Borrego State park. The elevation profile is 700 ft to 4000 ft in 10 to 15 miles and my Gladiator pulled it up that grade just fine.

I am in the process of buying one, I should be going to pick it up in PA next week. They are nice, but I think the pricing of them can be ridiculous. There is one for sale here in my town brand new, but they are asking $23K (marked down from $27K). The one I am working on getting is $15.5K new, plus the TT&L and fees.

I drove 3 and half hours because the one we got was such a good deal. A 2024 grand Design Transcend 235BH marked down from $43000 to $29,900. It doesn't got the dinette in it which was what we were looking for so we could have some more seating. Still sleeps 4 people comfortably and I could put 2 more on the theatre seat recliners if I wanted to. 1 slide and a good size bathroom. I was about $6000 upside down on mine because we bought it in December and they have some pretty significant depreciation but once we get though $4,000 for the warranty back it will only be like we lost out on about $2,000. I'm good with that so family happy and comfortable.

Is the 5800 UVW or GVW?
