Does the Tazer have a function that does this? I took my Jeep into a shop for a suspension test inspection to diagnose some bump or wobbly feels and they mentioned an ABS issue. When they stepped on the brake pedal at a stoplight the lights would flash. I knew this happened but I thought it was a Jeep thing or a mod through the Tazer.

basically you stop as normal at a light or construction thing then push the brake pedal a bit harder and it ā€œholdsā€ the brake for an unlimited amount of time. Kind of like hill start assist stuff but it doesn’t matter whether there is an incline or not. To turn off just push the gas and it releases. Shop didn’t know anything about it. I discovered it one day by accident. Should I be concerned or just enjoy it?

Yes, the warning lights will flash. That is normal function of the Tazer BREAK HOLD.

I've emailed ZAutomotive years ago if they can program out the warning lights but they can not.

Yes, it's a Tazer live function. If I remember right, when it was first introduced in a beta, it defaulted to on and confused a whole lotta people (IMNHO, people who don't RTFM should not install beta software), so later releases defaulted it to off.

Ok so it’s working as it’s supposed to then. Tazer was on the Jeep when I bought it so still learning the functions. I’ll see if there’s an online manual for it. I did figure out the light show function by accident!! :like:

Instructions are here:
http://www.zautomotive.com/instructions/z_tzr_jlm

Read this part carefully. Then read it again. It's not a suggestion; failure to follow this part is the reason for probably 95% of the Tazer complaints people post here. Also, since you bought it used, you should probably check to make sure the firmware is up to date, and update it if it's not.

The manual is absolutely horrible… FYI šŸ™„
I ended up re-writing my own ā€˜notes’ because some of the stuff isn’t clear.
If you don’t do something right, the Tazer could give you all sorts of issues.

Love the devices features, hate it's documentation and usability. It's so comically unintuitive that I sometimes think it must be intentional. As some sort of joke.

FWIW, I also am not entirely sure this Brake Hold works on the manual trans either, I feel like I tried it way back when I first got the Tazer and didn't notice a difference.......but, to the point above, I am for sure never gonna be bothered enough to go through the convoluted programming and reboot process just to test that theory.

I have this feature enabled, but is hit or miss whether it works.

If I were in your shoes…. I’d perform the proper process to remove the Tazer and get your rig back to factory (per say). Hopefully, the previous owner bought the extension cable. At that point, I’d hook it up to a computer and get it updated (firmware). Hopefully, when you get on the website, they won’t expect the login & credentials from the previous owner.

I’m not even sure what the purpose of the brake-hold would be???
Other than having a health issue where it’s uncomfortable for you to step on the brakes for long periods???

The truck automatically has a brake-hold on inclines……not that I’d trust it… I’d still have my foot on the brake!!

I mostly just use it for the red lights in our construction zones. We have a couple stop lighted 1 lane sections that the wait is 3-5 minutes. I could put it in park but why when I can use the brake hold thing. Plus that allows me to move more quickly if some azzhat decides to not pay attention to where they’re going. I’ve had to move to th e shoulder for 18-wheelers oncoming through a little too close for my comfort. And I only have about half a calf on my right leg so holding the brake isn’t very comfortable.

I mean, it does exactly what I want it to do, and I am happy with it. I was just agreeing with you about the manual.

Also, there is no previous owner....I bought, updated (without issue), and installed it. I actually use a lot of the other features it provides. PIN lock, winch mode, sway kill, button remapping......

Having to put in the Konami Code to get the truck to move makes me chuckle every time I drive it.
