It takes a well-prepared thief to be able to know exactly where it was, and which fuse, and have tool in hand to pull THAT fuse. It's not an easy thing for an arthritic thief to pull a mini-fuse in these Jeeps.
True. The thefts going on in my area are just that though....very well organized. Google Toronto (Canada) area Jeep thefts, it is nuts! I am thinking of installing an ejector seat :D

I hear ya - yeah, these days they target, they specialize. It's scary in some areas. Luckily, here where I am, they are lazy and it's opportunity......... and Iowans are used to leaving keys in, engine running, purse sitting on the console, packages on the seat, envelopes with addresses laying on the dash - we ask for it here. Iowans make it so simple. Even the cops say the high theft rates around Des Moines are brought on by the owners - and over half could have been very simply and easily prevented. Go to the state fair - leave the thing unlocked or windows down. Some dopes even keep the keys or fobs in the vehicles because they gripe about the size or inconvenience.

How do these work? Do they link to your phone or something, and you can disable them temporarily if you want to open the hood or open the window yourself?
They are from Harbor Freight. Bunker Hill door and window alarm. They are not wireless. The switch on the side of the base has a siren alarm setting, an "off" setting and a chime setting. They are powered with batteries (included).

I always forget that you need a Tazer to activate the hood alarm. I have NO idea why Jeep did not enable that feature themselves, since all the hardware is already there, and the vehicle doesn't come with a locking hood.

On many vehicles, the hood alarm WAS enabled from the factory. No explanation why it was disabled later. And dealerships don't know anything about it, and in fact one told me that my vehicle must have an aftermarket alarm. When brand new from the dealership. It used to alarm but now does not. Other vehicles still do. Something is wrong, and perhaps @JeepCares could find out? Hopefully a TSB will go out to tell the dealerships what to do. Even better, an update allowing the user to turn it on or off.

I've been in more than one place where an alarm went off and people kept on talking and walking and didn't even look.
I mean - aren't you curious at all?

Not related, but fun anyway - before I retired I used to drive my 73 Javelin to work now and then in nice weather. MPG sucked but it was built for the track, not for a commuter car. Headers into performance mufflers and at that time, the pipes ended right below the axle tubes.
I left a few minutes before many did (I had a special hours arrangement) so was one of the first to start my car. I normally parked facing east with the rest of the lot behind me.
One time I started my car, no chokes so let it warm up a bit before shifting into gear, and I heard a couple of car alarms go off. Weird - i looked and saw no one, I left figuring someone must have bumped a car or two.
A couple of days later I drove it again - and again, when leaving, I started my car, gave it a few seconds to catch its breath and again - I heard car alarms. This is really weird. Now you'd think the second time I'd think about it... nope.
The third time I left and started my car, it happened again and this time I saw I guy running as fast as he could - FOB in hand - toward his car and I realized what was going on. He must have seen me leaving and tried to get to his car before the sound waves from my car did.
After that, I parked facing the other direction - don't know if that helped or he got tired of running out and shutting his alarm off so never armed it after that?
His car was a good 3 or 4 rows across the lot from mine.
Damn good car alarm, IMO!
Had a '99 Ram 1500 4x4 with the 5.9 gasser with a Ken Bell supercharger, long tube headers and Gibson sport truck side exit exhaust. I could drive through a parking lot and set off car alarms. The exhaust had deep note to it.

I'd like to see it in the CSM like we can do with auto-high beam and passive entry and other things.

I nearly forgot about these instances - I think frankly the fools LOST the items, but they claim they were stolen. Either way - stolen out of a car - still your responsibility.............
We used digital voice recorders (replacing the old-fashioned micro-cassette for dictation). Those devices has SD cards, etc. for the data.
2 were reported "stolen" by 2 different employees, and a laptop was reported "stolen" out of an employee car.
I was "assured" by them and their boss - and even the agency administrator said "if they said it's so, it's so, no big deal" that the devices had been erased so there was no PII on them. They said the laptop was password protected, no big deal. And yet just 2 months before they'd sent a couple of those devices out to have a company recover lost data because they said they accidentally erased it in one case and the card was corrupt in the other. In under a day the data was recovered.
I tried to argue - that data is still there I don't give a rip if you think you deleted it, and I proved I could boot up a laptop with a ubuntu disk and access the web cache or any files I wanted.
I was so glad to be able to retire and get out of that clown show.
That's how safe your data really is.
And if it was truly stolen out of a car - well............... how often do thieves look for digital dictation devices? Worthless on the street.

I think we should reverse the trigger switch on a vehicle breathalyzer, preventing a thief from starting a vehicle if they’re not over .20 BAC. Obviously it would need to be disabled via PIN for responsible drivers that own the Jeeps.

Alarms are good if you can hear yours and the sound is different then everyone else's.
Anything to deter the thieves is helpful.
I added hood locks and use an old fashion Club.

I went with the BOLT hoodlock. Cost a bit more than I planned because the rivet gun I already owned wasn't capable enough to handle 1/4" rivets, so I had to spend another $30 on a larger one with more leverage. I know some people just skip the rivets and go with nuts and bolts, but if the idea is security, an opportunistic thief may have simple hand tools. Those rivets aren't getting busted/grinded/drilled out while the hood is down.
