Gladiator specs:
Wheelbase: 137.3"
Ground clearance: 11.1"
Breakover angle: 20.3°

Doesn't specify where the 11.1" ground clearance is measured, but probably not at center of truck. To get a breakover angle of 20.3° with the given wheelbase, the ground clearance would need to be 12.3" at the center of the truck.

If you add 2" of height, that gives 14.3" of clearance at center of truck, or breakover angle of 23.5°.

If you add 4" of height (37" tires & 2" lift), that gives 16.3" of clearance at center of truck, or breakover angle of 26.7°.
Thanks for the overview and link. Just to follow up with some real world numbers, I measured ground clearance at center of my JTR and it is approximately 12 inches, which is in line with what you said. The 11.1 must be a low point somewhere else.

11.1" is at the bottom of the pumpkin/differential with 35" tires. I just went out and crawled under to the rear axle with a tape measure.

G'day BOS, throwing 16" GC and 137.3 WB into the calc still only give 26.2 breakover. (using the base figure of 11" GC...I gave you 5" as what it may increase)...I could be well wrong in the real world...but the front wheel being so far foward and creating such a long wheel base actually reduces the off-road functionality of this particular model. I'm hoping the image I include will help some know what on earth I am on about.

I like this illustration too, I like "DATA" so I'm dig'n this thread and the ideas to increase this Break over angle.

So red hot sloth has helped me out here...from his 2" lift and 35's it's showing 15.25" at the centre (roughly) of vehicle. So this will bring ramp over to around 24.7 degrees (which is close to my early days guestimate). In the real world market in Aust, that mod brings the gladiator to "stock" ramp over of it's main competitors (generally 24 - 25). Will it have a market sales effect...maybe
Are you guys having any issues off-road, scraping through tracks...I haven't really heard yet...

Yeah, I scrape A LOT, and I’m on 37s. I’m already thinking about how I might work myself into a set of 39s...
Anyone want to buy a set of low-mileage 37” Ridge Grapplers?

Am I missing something, the GC of the diff is not model specific JK, JL, JT for the Jeeps correct? It is the relationship of the, axle, diff, and overall tire size. I see where the OP may have different relationships with other vehicles DIFF setups.

The break over is GC in the middle(or near middle) and can be improved by tires and lift, but will always be worse on our JT's because of the wheelbase.

Correct. 11.5 is generally diff clearance and 15 is vehicle centre (rough)
The longer wheel base creates a poor ramp over.
A track maintenance tool used by parks over here is generally angled mounds across steep tracks to create a run off for water, rather than wash out tracks. But there also catch a lot of Vehicles and damage steps, sills etc ( for the unwary or less known) so I head out with a mate and my ramp is OK on current vehicle and can do most tracks, where his is around 23 and we have to stop and not do track due to hang up and damage. It’s a legit issue with this vehicle I can foresee.

Here's how I plan to improve breakover angle.... 40" tires, high clearance tube bumper and angle cut behind the rear tire. As soon as my LE gets here, I will give you the exact angle but my guess is 45-50 degrees. ;)

I look forward to you letting us know when you’ve done this. When will it be done and who you gonna have do it? You gonna do the High speed offroad suspensionntoo?

Yep but it is like comparing apples to oranges. Get in the back seat of that Gladiator vs the others...no comparison. Giving up that BO angle for more cargo/people capacity. If you are wanting awesome BO go get yourself a Wrangler 2-door...then compare that to the competitors....but you loose the rear doors and a pickup bed...a JL 4 door will get you the 2 extra doors and still better BO angles...but you won't have a truck bed. Pick your poison..they are all there.

I definitely scrape more on rocks than my 2 door or my 4 door but as said the pickup bed makes it worth it. My Gladiator Rubicon rode every trail the rest of my crew in 2 door wranglers did with just a bit more metal on rock scraping sounds. That’s what skids are for. And btw I can carry a family of 4, a dog and all our camping gear with me to the trail.

Just stating what Jeep will be up against in Aust. Dual cabs are one of the biggets markets over here, Jeeps point of difference here for market entry is pretty much the off-road prowess...which is where it's ramp over will be a weakness, the biggest sellers in the like for like dual cab are 24 degrees off the shelf (Hilux and Ranger), then improved further with mods. All I am saying is that they are coming in at 20 standard and will only get back to competitior stock with mods....we cant drive 37's +, it's straight out illegal unless we fork out serious coin to have the car engineer certified....technically 35's will be illegal....and if the horrible rumours are true that Jeep Aust will only plate and release on 32's the issues are even worse. Ranger Raptor has already taken the "drive fast over dunes" market, Hilux and Ranger are locked for trade and family 4x4, Jeeps only real market entry here is off-road capability....it will be very interesting to see what happens.
FWIW I have owned and driven a dual cab for over 10 years, so I've a reasonable grasp on what works and what will break on general 4x4 tracks over here

The work has started. Hope to be back on all 4 by the end of the year.

You're building this...

12849.jpg

in your garage? HA HA HA

i think the above pic, from your post, is a photochop job.

Casey Currie has built something that looks somewhat similar (without the super-duper radical rear suspension) but he did it modifying a JK Jeep...
https://www.4wheelparts.com/the-dirt/turning-a-jeep-jk-into-a-gladiator/amp/
lol, funny. It may look like a garage to you but it is indeed my shop that we just finished building. Also, I have built quite a few rigs including 2 race Jeeps, first being a JK and the 2nd a JL in my garage before the shop was built. As for photoshop, I suck at it. In fact, I paid someone to do the rendering of my current build.
