Bubbling paint !

This is what I noticed on my 10 month old JTR' s body by 3 door hinges.
The dealer said is because it wasn't painted under under the hinges at the factory, it only got painted when the hinges were already on. They took pictures ond offered to take everything off fix it and repaint the doors. Not impressed with factory quality control.
Anybody else has run into this issue??

Yes, my 2018 JLUR did the same thing after about 8 months. I addition to working with your dealer, I would call Jeep Cares and have them open a case number for you. This is a known issue.

Yes, on my 2014 JKU, same thing, the “fix” was worse than the bubbling and it did it again a couple years after being dealer repainted.

My past JK's only had it on the hinges only, not on the body around the hinge like the JTR has it.

That doesn’t look like bubbling paint, that looks like a bad detailer wrecked that.

I’m on mobile, so maybe I’m wrong.

When I first noticed my bubbled paint, I only noticed it on two hinges but the dealer service department found other areas as well.

I got it on the bottom left side of my 2020 got the dealer taking care of it meaning paint the whole hood

My 2018 Rubicon is currently scheduled for repair without any issues, it's a known problem. All my hinges and hood were affected!

My 21 has a thin gasket between the hinge and door. Also have a '20 JLU and I have bubbling around 4-5 hinges and the bottom of one of the doors. Just over the 50k mile warranty so I think I may be screwed.

My wife was given a heads up about this by the dealer's body shop on her '21 JL when we had minor work done as a result of her being rear-ended by a texting teen on an exit ramp. They said if you notice bubbles under the paint around the door hinges, bring it to the dealer ASAP so it can be repaired under warranty. Both my '20 JT (42k miles) and the '21 JL (11k miles) are garaged and no issues yet.

I guess the dealer doesn't know how all cars and trucks have been painted for decades............

No paint under the hinges or on the backs of the hinges......... I've got other pics of cars I've restored or repainted over the years. When you remove doors and hinges, you find out how things were done (touring the factories didn't hurt either)

Mine is still fine, 31 months later and 2 harsh winters with brine, salts of various types, etc.

IS that simply rough paint on a hinge, or corrosion? ODD, very odd, if there was any corrosion on that part. Not impossible, but that's not an area that would necessarily come out with a perfect finish from the get-go......... unless you are saying a month ago it was perfectly smooth and now it is not. If that's a new or newer truck - I'd suggest possibly just rough finish. But you didn't say if they were ever perfect to begin with.

Mine is a 2020. I can say from detailing it every year I do not remember ever seeing it to this extent. One back hinge ( from the body ) was a little rough but it appears more wide spread and the others outer hinged sections were smooth. I have an appointment this week so I will find out. Right after I ordered some new upgrade parts.

Looks like the AL panels and parts didn't get treated properly. Door panels, hood, and hinges are all AL.
