I really like the idea. I'll make my own and buy some kind of vinyl sticker from somewhere online. Cover the whole thing with water based poly.

OP - Thanks for the Amazon link.

Beautiful project. How do you support the ends extending out the tail gate?

Very cool, you can probably sell those.
The only problem with that thought is Jeep is NOT immune to going after the little guy for trademark infringement.

So I started, making something better that the junk I had in my bed - thanks for making me do this :) My girlfriend can do stencils with her cricket, but I may try just putting on a vinyl sticker on it and lacquering over top, or coating in a clear 2 part epoxy to keep it looking good, and dealing with the abuse I will throw at it.

no offence but the brackets alone are $30, I don't even know what the wood costs (i had it laying around) but maybe another $20 and its more than an hour of work (mine took 10-20 min a day for 5 days putting on 8 coats of lacquer). which isnt worth $30 to me to make them.

I doubt anyone would really want to pay $250-$300 for this plus shipping. Maybe when I retire I'll open an etsy shop and sell stuff like this for fun.

In all honesty its not hard and everyone likely has the ability to make this if they take their time. It is just cutting to legnth you can do this with basic hand tools. Then then sand and stain it. You can easily buy the decals online if you want fancy stuff.
