Can Rear locker be engaged in 2WD?

I just watched a video about the Off Road+ button and the dance you have to go through to engage the rear locker in 4Hi. What a PITA! Made me wonder if it's also available in 2Hi without all the screwing around...? In my F150, I simply press the button and it engages whether in 4Hi or 2Hi. I use it frequently when driving in the desert, when I don't need 4WD. Thanks!

Yes, can be enabled to work via Tazer. This is how I have mine configured. No idea if Jscan can also code this to work.

My '98 TJ Wrangler Sahara
came with Trac-Lok,
a mechanical, clutch-based
limited-slip differential (LSD).
Always active,
it works independently of the transfer case and functions when needed
whether you are in 2HI, 4HI, or 4LO.

My 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD
has G80 aka "Gov-Lok".
This Eaton rear differential
locks both rear wheels together
if they begin turning at different speeds.
Sometimes there is disconcerting
tire chirping
when making a tight turn.
Just don't turn so tight.

My 2wd 2009 Toyota Tacoma
had an auto limited slip differential.
This used the ABS brakes
to retard a spinning rear wheel.
But if it was uphill and sandy
the truck would come to a complete stop.
Then you had to turn it off
and hope for the best.
Don't ask me how I know this.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

What situations would unlocking the swaybar and locking the rear in 2Hi be useful?

I ordered the LSD rear on the wife’s JLU for winter driving where she wouldn’t need to think about locking/unlocking. I understand the utility of the LSD in 2Hi, but if you are going to run sand/dirt why wouldn’t you want 4Hi?

In my old truck, I had situations where I would have liked the extra gear ratio of 4Lo, but with only the rear axle driving (2Lo) for high traction pavement situations. Think backing a trailer uphill on pavement. I realize this isn’t really possible with the Gladiator unless I install locking hubs.

I have had several instances where the rear locker was all that was needed. It kept from wheel spinning. Could I have just stitched to 4hi probably, but having more tools available is nice to have.

Very interesting, will have to attempt on the 2023 and then 2021. Hope it works for us. BTW
Not attempting to grab the thread ** Anyone know of a mechanical locker set that will install in the Mojave Rear- if so LMK.. I'm old school !

I’ve had some folks tell me they can only do this process in 4H but mine engages in 2H also.

Another guy told me it works for him only in 4H after hitting the offroad plus button then holding esc till it beeps ?

If it works it works in whatever mode if it don’t it don’t

If you don't need 4wd, you don't need to lock the diff either. The beauty of the tazer is it works in all modes and at any speed. I wouldn't own a Rubicon without one. Snownuts is the only benefit of the rear locker in 2wd in my opinion. The front locker only on some climbs is more beneficial.

Awesome! Thank you for all the replies! I definitely plan on picking up a Tazer, as well. I just wish there was something like ForScan, that was available with a complimentary license, and didn't cost $300. But, gotta pay to play with a J(ust) E(mpty) E(very) P(ocket)!
