Its annoying and while I could have gotten used to pressing the button everytime I started the Jeep...I know there would be times I would have forgotten...then gotten pissed off the first time it activated. Any chance of reducing my getting pissed off is good. Also, I did run with it enabled for a few weeks and it was EXTREMELY annoying in "quick" stop -n- go traffic. Long stops was not too bad.

Just easier to not have to deal with it or think about it.

Oh, and I am not convinced ESS does not cause extra wear on the components.

Again, better safe than sorry. A few 10ths of a percent of MPG be damned.

I tried getting used to it as well. It's just a pain, especially in short stops as it's overly aggressive with it's shutoff. If I'm at a notorious long light, I'll actually engage it to allow shutoff.
Having a switch that keeps my last setting is IDEAL for my driving habits.

I would think that by design it would have to, however the components in play have supposedly been designed with that in mind.

I do the same...I "engage" it if I know I am going to be sitting at LONG lights. But having it remember the last state is ideal for me as well.

I also saw something on a youtube video saying that if you unplug the connector for the hood sensor it will disable the autostart/stop.. Dont know if thats true or not.
Thay hood switch makes sense. If you are trying to add coolant, check auto trans fluid, etc while keeping engine running, you wouldn't want ESS to stop engine in the middle of that.

It's not bad with a manual transmission. If I know a stop will be brief, or I want to be able to take off quickly, I normally leave it in gear and keep the clutch pedal depressed. In that case start/stop doesn't kill the engine. If I know it's going to be a long light, that's when I put it in neutral and let out the clutch and then the engine shuts down. I don't mind at all saving a little gas in that situation.

What I find odd is that we can't choose to "remember last state," yet a remote start is available that lets you (with automatics) start up and let it idle for -- what is it? -- 10 or 15 minutes before shutting off automatically?

Very valid point. I can let my Auto run 10 minutes unattended, but I can't come to a 1 second stop without a shutdown while driving.

As far as I know it will only engage in drive, not park.

10% coupon code AUTOVLOG
It plugs inline, and enables "remember last state"
Thanks for posting the discount code. I just bought the Autostop Eliminator and saved the $10. Priority shipping was free as well. Their installation video shows it is a really easy install. I like the idea I can still turn on the ESS if needed - rather than always having to turn it off!

It's literally just an inline module that took all of 10 minutes to install including the time it took to contort my body to fit on the driver's side floorboard.

Keeping last known state has saved my sanity.

I've never had an issue with it. The starter engages when I take my foot off the brake and the motor is running by the time I step on the throttle. I suppose that if I perceived a problem I'd hit the button.
Your sloth-like reaction speed and lack of appreciation for instant gratification is appalling.

Just kidding! I also find it annoying and turned it off. The version on my Porsche is almost dangerous as it will shut the engine off before you reach a complete stop and I have had several instances where I needed to accelerate just as it shut off causing bucking and a big delay.

I believe that on my wife's Macan it remembers the last button state so that you don't have to turn it off (if desired) every key cycle.
