I'm looking to tint my rear window as well. It makes a big difference here in FL. But all my local shops said they won't do it, something about the 3M adhesive being corrosive to plastic. Has anyone found a solution or replaced their back panel for one with a tinted window and have pictures, or what material if you tinted with a film?

It would be easier and probably safer to buy a new window that already tinted.

Here is for the standard top material:

Here is for the premium twill material:

Thanks, I figured as much, unfortunately. Any idea what the tint percentage is on either of those?
Im not sure. I dont have a tint meter unfortunately. Its whatever factory is. My soft top has the tinted window. Its just as dark as the back doors. I assume it would be 50 state legal if thats what you are worried about.

Thanks, not an issue here in FL, But it won't match my doors at 20%. Hmm, I wonder if there is an aftermarket replacement? I'll have to do some research on that I guess.

Yes, you can tint a soft top rear window, but there are some important factors to consider before doing so.

Firstly, it's important to ensure that the tint film you use is specifically designed for use on soft top windows. This is because traditional automotive tint films may not be suitable for use on these types of windows due to the soft, pliable nature of the material. Using the wrong type of tint film can result in bubbling, cracking, or other forms of damage to the soft top material, which can compromise its functionality and durability.

Additionally, it's important to check with your local regulations to ensure that the level of tint you choose is within legal limits. Different states and municipalities have different regulations regarding the darkness of tint that is permitted on vehicle windows, and exceeding these limits can result in fines or even legal consequences. It's important to check these regulations before tinting your soft top rear window to ensure that you're in compliance with the law.

If you do decide to tint your soft top rear window, it's important to have it professionally installed by a qualified and experienced installer. This is because soft top windows are often more difficult to work with than traditional automotive windows, and require specialized knowledge and techniques to ensure a smooth, even application. A professional installer will be able to assess your soft top window and determine the best approach to tinting it, ensuring that the end result is both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

In summary, while it is possible to tint a soft top rear window, it's important to use the right type of tint film, ensure compliance with local regulations, and have it professionally installed to avoid any potential damage or legal issues.
