Hi new to the forum. I found a used 23 Gladiator Rubicon with 13000 miles at a really good price. Thing is it's from Canada and no factory warranty. Would you buy or run away?

@GladiatorNate had one and had to fight for warranty work.

I found the same thing when I was looking for a GC Trackhawk. Super tempting deals on Canadian vehicles. IMO, I wouldn't consider anything from Canada that doesn't have a CanAm warranty with it. If it has a CanAm warranty, it should be listed on the window sticker.

People will baulk but 13,000 miles in one year would be enough for me to turn it down, even if it had a warranty.

No warranty - no deal.

Honestly, I'd say it's a roll of the dice and really depends on how "good" the price actually is.

I mean lets talk in some "reality". I currently own a 2016 JKUR, a 2018 JKUR and a 2020 JTR. None of them are pavement princesses. Here is a list of all the warranty work I have had done in 18 years of combined ownership:

1) 2016 JKUR needed an ECU wire replaced within the first week of ownership

2) 2020 JTR needed the Aux Battery replace within the first year

That's it. If that vehicle has 13K on it now, any of those infant mortality type failures are likely done. What's left is the ones that may be age related and will show up at 20,000 or 25,000 or whatever miles. If the price is right, it may just be that the money you save is just the money that you may or may not have to spend if some warranty related item does eventually fail within the warranty period. Just like insurance your new car price includes insurance against failures...insurance that I paid for and haven't actually benefited from...

Depends on how good of a deal it is. My experience was not good with a Can Am warranty, so I would never get a Canadian Jeep again. If you decide to go for it, get all the warranty information up front and inquire about purchasing/negotiating additional warranty coverage.

I can tell you my experience with (unknowingly-undisclosed—-however you want to say it) purchasing a Canadian wrangler a few years back. Bought a 2016 wrangler Sahara with an extended warranty because it was at 31K miles.
I drive it for a year and a half with no issues. One day it just died while driving. Because I had the extended warranty I had it towed to a Jeep dealership and they said that the ECM took a crap. Ok great put a new one in…….not so fast. The dealership wouldn’t offer me a parts warranty on the new part because it was Canadian vehicle therefore the extended warranty company declined the warranty repair because no parts warranty was offered.
I guess if you plan to pay cash for every repair I’d say it’s up to you.
My opinion “Run Away! Save your self a headache in the future!
