I believe if you have an automatic and are off-road, paddle shifters would be an asset.

I believe if you have an automatic and are off-road, paddle shifters would be an asset.

The only way I can see Paddle shifters an asset in off road is if they were fixed to the steering column and not to the wheel. I would hate to chase the paddle around the wheel trying to shift while working the wheel back and forth trying to gain traction. Or worse the tires catch something and whip the wheel around and now you have a blade like hook, trying to take your fingers for a ride.

Paddle shifters are only really good with super close ratio steering and just going fast while keeping your hands on the wheel.

My SxS has paddle shifters (column mounted).
Absolutely love them. Perfect for the application, IMO.
