Finally got to pick up my very first Jeep! Ordered out of state from a volume dealer and then had a mini roadtrip back home. Took the opportunity to do some easy wheeling in Oregon and northern California - everything was going perfect!
That is until the evening after, when she tripped up. At exactly 600 miles the CEL came on with the message "Service DEF System See Dealer". Then to make things worse it started the countdown of death "Engine Will Not Restart in 250 mi See Dealer"! I read out OBD2 codes U029E U029D C342D P2209 P22A7 P0055 C3064 C2174 and C2520, what the heck! Mind you I was still 350 miles from home. I took it on the cheek cancelling the other plans I had, and limped it straight back to my town. I didnt even go to my house since the death countdown had been exceeded, and instead dropped it off at my local dealer. I literally took it from dealer to dealer.
This happened 18 days ago. My service advisor was great (although he wouldnt give me a rental despite having the Mopar Max Care) and said initial diagnosis required changing both of the NOx sensors. Was a little bit of challenge due to apparent backorder but they came in after 2 weeks. Lo and behold swapping both sensors did not fix the issue. I was a little upset at this point after 2 weeks of not having transportation / not having my brand new Jeep.
Literally one hour later they pulled FR wheelwell liner and traced the nox sensor wiring back to a damaged connector, which was causing a contact issue with one of the pins. The tech removed that pin and hardwired the connection (bypassing the connector). Issue resolved.
Hope this maybe helps someone else out in the future. IE both nox sensors go out at the same time = check wiring
