That is actually one of the first thing on the list for this weekend. I'm planning to use channel locks and turn it as gently as possible until the tabs give up. I've seen videos of people doing and it didn't look that hard. I've also got one saved where they completely remove it and push the tabs in with a screwdriver. If it feels like I'm using too much force I'll go that route.
I did mine when it was pretty warm outside, might make a difference (cold, stiff plastic)

Amsoil sells Wix oil and fuel filters for the 3.0. I get them when I get my oil, one stop shop.

Just ordered 5 gallon jugs of 100% synthetic European 5w-40 Amsoil and 1 Mopar filter. With enough oil for two changes, why only one filter you ask? After the oil, that's all my debit card could handle for today :crying:
Should have got the Napa oil and filter could have got 2 filters 😅

Congrats OP! Interesting that your JTRD is not a Farout Edition. I thought all of the 23 JTRD's were the special edition but I guess I was wrong.

Thank you! I also thought all the 23s were Farout editions until I started seriously searching. They are very nice but I never found one with adaptive cruise and that was at the top of my list. As closely as I can figure, the last of the 2023 diesels that were made were Farouts but the earlier 23s were not. I don’t have a picture of the production date on my iPad but mine was built in late November or early December of 22. The only things that I can see that set this one apart is it doesn’t have the black grille or the Farout branding but it has everything else plus a couple of extra options. It was also less money than a Farout with similar miles. The only Farout Edition I saw that I truly wanted was a blue one. It was here in Oklahoma and I think it had around 7k miles on it. Problem was the guy wanted 60k and wouldn’t budge. He didn’t seem at all familiar with Jeeps and when he started talking about how rare and special the Farout Edition was I had to leave.

This afternoon I did the filler neck mod. Temperature got up to 80 today so it was a good day to do it. Using channel locks was pretty easy. I scuffed up the edge of the lip a little but not too bad. I was a little surprised but enough of the tabs stayed there so that it locked back into place.

So far I’ve run into a couple of small issues but nothing bad enough to remove the smile I’ve had since picking it up. First thing was I couldn’t get SiriusXM to work on the drive home. It doesn’t even show as an option on the 8.4 display. I called Sirius and troubleshooting didn’t help. The radio ID is correct for the Jeep and when I go into radio settings, it shows Sirius xm has an active subscription. Their best guess was a problem with either the radio or the antenna. Today I verified it is the head unit by putting in the one from my 22 Rubicon. After paying $9 for the unlock code, that unit works perfectly in the 23 diesel. Not having Sirius isn’t an issue because I usually listen to things through my phone but it does bother me when something doesn’t work.

The other thing I’m having trouble with is remote start with the key fob. Today was the first time I’ve tried but I can’t get it to operate. Everything I’ve read and seen says it works almost exactly like it does on the gas model. 1 push on the lock button and two on the start button. I’ve also seen that it could be 1 for lock then two start while holding down the button on the second push. Neither of those nor anything else I’ve tried will start the Jeep. I believe all the conditions are met to allow remote start. The only thing that is close is the fuel level. I’m above a quarter tank but less than half, gauge shows approx 3/8 tank. One thing I have not yet done is to check fuses. Before leaving Delaware I pushed them all down, several moved, but I didn’t check to make sure they were all good. The other thing I’m curious about is how good the batteries are. Last weekend I drove approx 400 miles before charging came down below 14 volts. The batteries in my 3.6 are only a year old and much higher quality than the factory battery still in the diesel. I’ll make sure they are compatible first but if so I’ll swap them tomorrow and see if that does anything for remote start.

You don't need to lock the Jeep. Just 2 pushes on the start button, x2.

Just regular pushes, not to fast or slow and you don't need to hold it down.
Or atleast that's how it works on our diesels and the inlaws also.

If you have a service light on, or low on fuel, somewhere around 1/4 tank, or if your low enough on DEF to have received a mileage warning.

If the batteries are low, it could make a difference. The batteries are the same. Some diesel owners have claimed they had an H7 as the main instead of an H6.
I swapped my H6 out for an H7 when it was time for a replacement. Also the Aux battery is under the main on the diesel, super easy to swap.

Yep....just 2 presses of the remote start button.

Make sure all your doors, hood, and tail gate are closed. A low battery will not let the remote start to work.

I’ve tried the remote every way possible including just 2 presses but it doesn’t try to start. On my 3.6 the horn goes off twice then it fires up. On this one I’ll get one horn but nothing else. It feels like one of the conditions needed for remote start is missing but I can’t figure which it is.

The batteries are where I’ll start tomorrow. They are original so a little over 3 years old. I’ll pull the batteries out of the 22 and see if that makes a difference. I’m planning to do that before selling it anyway.

I replaced the battery in both remotes this afternoon so that isn’t it.

No check engine light and JScan only shows two stored codes. Three instances of U0184-00 (lost communication with radio), and one of B16B7-15 (center stop lamp short to battery or open)

Doors, hood and tailgate are all shut. I have noticed the hood switch closest to drivers side is slower to fully extend that the other one but it does top out.

Something I have not checked is the wiring harnesses for the doors. If the previous owner bent a pin plugging them back in, that might do it

I get 2 horn honks just before it starts. Check the battery voltage first thing in the morning before starting. Check each one separately.

I would try to remove the storaged codes.

Good time to do an aux batt delete if you are so inclined.

I should have opened the forum first and checked the voltage when I got up. Instead I connected the charger a couple of hours ago to see if that helps. I'll give it a little longer and see what happens. If it still won't remote start I'll see if the codes will clear. If it still doesn't, I'll look for bent pins in the door harnesses. From what I've seen here, a bent pin can cause all types of strange problems. I really feel like this is something simple just have to find it

Willing to part ways with the 8.4" screen you removed? I couldn't care less about XM radio, but would like the bigger screen.

And check the EVIC screen for AUX battery readiness (HVAC off, engine at operating temps, etc). My AUX batt is gone, but something I did jumped it back to life after the verified test proving it's dead, not sure what though. Wondering if the AUX batt being below threshold will deny you remote start (I don't have it).

If I didn't have a use for it, I'd be happy to help with the 8.4 but this one has to go back in the 2022 model I'm selling.

I've looked at the EVIC sceen and it shows no problems. Start stop works fine when I forget to hit the button, no obvious problems anywhere. I just took the Jeep off the charger and it still won't remote start. I've got to go in to work this morning and will check the door harnesses when i get time. If they look good I'll check the plunger switches under the hood then swap in the newer batteries from the 2022 gasser.
