For those that have installed a kill switch on the ignition circuit, is it really this easy to access the back of the start button wiring harness?

Thanks

On the 2023 and older models it is. Does the 24 trim piece look the same? If so then I’d say yes it’s still that easy.

To me, my console panel looks the same as seen in the video. Maybe others can confirm?

Thanks

I don't recommend adding any kill switch near the starter button. Tap into it somewhere farther upstream.

Doesn't this kill switch harness require access to the back of the start button?

https://www.jw2innovations.com/product/jeep-gladiator-1-kill-switch-kit

I was hoping accessing the back of the start button was as easy as depicted in the above YouTube video. If so, then the hard part of a kill switch install would be hiding the wire leads and hiding the kill switch.

I know there is another ignition immobilizer option out there that doesn't require any wiring, Mobilistics I think?

Idk, I'd like to install some form of ignition immobilizer, I'm just a little apprehensive about removing any dash panels on a vehicle I just bought in January.

Yes it does and it's extremely easy to defeated too. It only take seconds to pull that panel off and see the t-harness. Hint: you can locate those same wires under driverseat carpet.

Appreciate the input. I've read thru lots of posts above theft and security. The consensus is several "layers" of security is best practice.

Good luck on 2024+ :) you gotta remove the Dash Pad on the Passenger side, remove the side panel on the Passenger side, remove 8 screws in a combination locations of under the dash pad, under the side panel, and behind the grab handle, and then unclip the entire assembly that include the passenger side defrost duct outlet and pull that forward, and now you have access to to the KIN (push button start)

Curious, where did you end up wiring this? I'm looking to install a homemade kill switch in a new to me AMW conversion. I have the 41.22 in my other gladiator, but looking for a more covert option for the new JT.

I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help to you as I haven't fully deployed my anti- theft strategy yet. So far I've only done the bolt hood lock and RR hood locks ( I know seems redundant ). I was leaning towards an ignition immobilizer module. The drawback to the module being that it is auto-arming, so one has to make sure that stop/start is disabled or you'll find yourself trying to restart your Gladiator at a traffic light while horns are blowing behind you. I guess the safest bet would be to also go with the stop start eliminator if I elect to go with the ignition immobilizer.

Maybe some forum members that have deployed a kill switch could help you out with hints/suggestions via PM? I wouldn't mind going to school on this myself.

Sure if you make it obvious. I purchase a pre-made harness same color wires, connector, wrapped in harness tape. The original connector is pulled into the depths of the front panel then back wrapped to the switch interface.
Yes it can be defeated but not as easy as you make it.
Layers of defense,is all we can do.

I say put the kill in to inhibit the start/stop you'll be glad you did.

I original made one that looks factory with factory wires and wrapped in harness tape and all of that, but it can easily be seen from underneath with the knee panel removed. I had abandoned that route and went a step further without using a phycical switch.
