Even since the cold weather hit in Nov. My ESS hasn't worked. Keeps says battery charging. Ever once in a while. i get the message of Aux switched not available. Then it goes away. I suspect the aux battery. when i get back from my trip from Denver. I'll take my JT back to the dealer to have it checked and to do my last Jeep Wave oil change.

The messages you are getting are indicators that the batteries are not getting an adequate charge. One or both could be failing due to age or poor quality. It could also be that the truck is just not driven enough. Cold weather impacts performance, and will have a greater impact on marginal batteries. If they are close to three years old, plan on replacing them soon. If you can, get it done under warranty.

The JT gets driven 50 miles a day. It will be one year old on the 28th. Voltmeter is always between 13.7 and 14.2.

That sounds like at least one of the batteries is defective. Hopefully, they will fail the test and the dealer will get approval to replace them.

That was it! Got it back from the dealer and the Aux battery was bad. They replaced it under warranty. Sure seems like this should have lasted longer... I habitully turn off the ESS feature when I first start it up. Wondering if not occasionally "drawing" from the Aux battery while stopped helped kill it?

No, it's the quality of the original batteries. The batteries are paralleled together, so they are both being drained and charged all the time. Whether or not ESS is being used has no effect on charging or use. Some Service Advisors are telling owners that it does, and that is getting repeated here, but it is not correct.

I rarely use ESS. I replaced the main battery last fall, at just over three years old. I'm still running on the original Aux battery. It's due for replacement, but everything still works.

I had both of my oem batteries fail within 3 months of buying my Mojave.

I have had ESS disabled since day one (I actually had ordered the start stop eliminator before I had even taken possession of the truck) so I don't think ESS has anything to do with the issue, it's more of an obvious symptom..

I travel for work constantly and when I am not on the road, I work out of my house (I've been averaging less than 5k miles/year for nearly 20 years on my vehicles) so my truck frequently sits for a week or two at a time. I've never had a vehicle I've had to jump start so often (especially new) from sitting around as this one...
I've had in the past numerous trips where I would be gone for multiple weeks and I very rarely came home to a dead battery (and typically only in the winter).

I realize new vehicles have more electronics than ever, but this is rediculous lol. Almost made me want to install a battery disconnect.

All this to say both batteries tested bad again last week and in a fit of rage I ordered the Genesis dual battery system..

I have a ‘24 Willys JL Unlimited, and this is the closest I’ve found to what’s happening to mine. Barely 3000 miles on it and today, backing out of a parking spot, there was a loud clicking/clanking and a bunch of warnings flashed on the dash. I remember something about the Stability Control and Power Steering. It wouldn’t move after I stopped, not even to go into another gear. I turned if off and back on again, and it drove fine after that (the check engine light came on though). The code is for high battery voltage, weirdly enough.
Update: Dealership said they could find nothing wrong. Checked the grounds and did a software update then returned it to me.
