Listen I was like 5 beers in. Don’t hold me accountable for my poor comparisons. I thought we were friends.
LOL - literally. This is why I like this forum so much. Yeah, and if we ever meet, maybe I'll spring for the 6th beer. 5 in me and you'd not be able to read past the first couple of words.

Yeah my wife will often comment that she "can tell the filters need changing" because she's sneezing or something. I have not tried explaining to her that the air only moves one way through them, and that all that dust you see trapped on the filter is just that - trapped. I just say "thanks for the reminder" and pretend like I'm helping.

That being said, I have not changed mine and I'm coming up on 21 months, still under 15k miles. Going to order a couple now, but wait until the pollen stops raining down before I change it.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't even realize that I had a cabin air filter. So does the Wife's GC. So, today Amazon dropped off one for each and I swapped them out. Neither vehicle has 20K miles on it but, man were they dirty!!!! The GC had some pine needles in it and on my JTO, there were pine needles and even an INTACT leaf ? ?? how the heck did that get in there???? But, anyways, all doneski for the next year ?

All modern vehicles have cabin air filters.

Only 3k miles on my truck. Filthy. More than the cabin filters in my JKU ever were.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yea, but not all Jeeps. :P
My JK does not have one. I think only the JKs with the optional climate control came with a cabin filter. Of course, ours doesn't even have the optional air conditioner (that's why the top and doors come off).

Many JKs do, it appears there are differences over the years, but there are filters sold for them and a multitude of videos on how to change them.

So - YMMV apparently - but it seems a whole lot them do based on the responses I've seen.

Best I found out was most of the ones with the automatic climate control have a filter. All the ones that have AC at least have the place to install a cabin filter if it didn't come with one. HOWEVER, many of the people in the JK forums who added the filter when it didn't come with one later complained of severely restricted airflow and removed it again. I never dug deeper than that. Not even sure if the non A/C model has the place to add one. It's only slightly harder to get to than the JL/JT, just never looked after finding out it didn't have one to change. If I cared enough, and it had a place for it, I would probably research to see if there is a difference in the blower motor or hamster wheel between non A/C, basic A/C, and automatic climate control.

since the cabin filters are relatively cheap, I change mine every oil change.

with oil change I do the following:
Change oil (obviously)
Rotate tires
Inspect wheels, valve valve cover for damage
Check intake filter ( not just dirt but the damn critters can get in there)
Change cabin filter
Check power steering fluid
Check break fluid
Check suspension hardware
Check for any signs of leaks
Check washer fluid
Check coolant
Pop the fuse box open check seating
Inspect battery
Op check all lights
Inspect wiper blades
Apply thin film of molly to striker plates on doors and tail gate
Inspect seals on freedom panels

Then of course follow all the scheduled maintenance

just this man’s way of doin it I guess.
Wow, a dealer would charge you $385 to complete all those checks. And if they found you needed any fluids or filters, that would be extra; a LOT extra!

my 2013 JKU did not have climate control and did not come with the filters. I added them in and had no noticeable affect on the air flow. Both the heat and AC still blasted through the vents. But that was just my experience. I know some people had very weak AC and heat aside from the blend door issues.

Well, the last two vehicles I had were an '08 GC Overland Hemi and an '11 GC Overland Hemi and neither had a cabin air filter (at least I think the '11 didn't, but didn't have it long enough to check it out). These two are the first two vehicles I've owned that have the cabin air filter.

At 17,000 miles my filter looks just fine. Changing it out at 20,000 won’t be too late

i check Quadratec pricing then Amazon‘s. Amazon was a lot lower so I ordered from them. yet the filter shipment was fulfilled by Quadratec. Seems too complex but you have to cross-shop. I think Bezos‘s software can tell when you cross-shop and then you see lower prices.

And y’all will have to start lowering that windshield, taking off those doors, opening up that roof, or at least rolling down the windows more often. YOLO ?✌
