So me and a friend started this conversation strictly around clearance and thought that 33's @ 25 psi vs 37's @15psi would have pretty close to the same ground clearance with same 2" lift on a trail or are we missing something?

There obviously is a point at which the squish uses up clearance versus the higher pressure.
The traction needs obviously dictate the pressure needs.

Hard to say without an actual measurement. Seems like it would be very close though. 35s at 20 and roll out. No lift, no gear reduction

Are both tires the same load rating?

C vs D vs E makes a difference.

You can air a D/E down lower than a C and have the same “squish”.

At some point they will equal each other ground clearance-wise. The larger tire will have quite a bit more traction.
