Anyone with a soft top can probably relate that there are times you want to close the top without having to pull over or get up from the driver's seat.
I've been thinking of different ways and came up with some ideas as complex as 12v mini linear actuators to what I did today. (Cheap and easy)
So starting with some Paracord I tied to the driver's side long arm rear most hinge bracket.

And that's it!

Total cost maybe $1.80

So now at a stop sign or light I can just pull the top closed while sitting.

When the top is open or closed I just tuck the Paracord under the velcro of my grap handle.

So do you drive around without using a Velcro strap or something to secure the top? I use a twist tie like thing, so I would need to get out to undo that anyway. Just curious if you've had no issues.

I use the Velcro strap if I’m going on the highway, but at sub 60mph speeds I hardly bother. Never had any issues with the top trying to close on me or anything. It’s probably fine on the highway too but I don’t want to find out I’m wrong the hard way.

Never not once, and I drive fast.
I get more noise from the top being closed then I do when it's open driving down the highway at 75mph.

I'll have to try it strapless today. I have a 3 hour drive ahead of me.

Great idea on the Paracord, I have been thinking about this but didn't try it, I will today

I pop the latches and at 10-15mph, I give it a push to open it. The shocks do their job nicely, and it doesn't slam back. I don't secure mine down either. I'm going to have to steal this Paracord trick for closing it, so thanks for posting!

You might end up bending some of the rods on your top over time. They're not that strong. It's a good idea, but pulling from the middle where the handle is vs. the side is probably a better.

I had a soft top Wrangler before the Gladiator. Some people would accidentally break the rods on the Wrangler Forum.

Exactly how I open it also, let the wind take it back for you.
Just don't go to fast when doing it.

12 MPH was the prefect speed for my wrangler to open the soft top. I have a hard top on my gladiator now though.

Seems like I read somewhere 30MPH is the perfect speed to open the hard top.

So I've been meaning to ask the forum about their soft tops. I run with my top open alot. I've noticed that the fabric gets caught in between two of the metal arms when it's folded back and is starting to wear through. Anyone else having this issue?

Thank you! I’m going to try both suggestions. I will say that I never put my velcro straps on and I frequently drive 70mph with it open.
