The cloth upholstery on my 1998 Wrangler Sahara has held up well in spite of dirty dogs with sharp toenails. By contrast the same sweet darlings ruined the cloth upholstery in my 2006 Silverado 2500HD and my 2009 Toyota Tacoma.

A 2021 Gladiator Rubicon with cloth upholstery is on its way here. How will that cloth upholstery hold up? Do I have to get seat covers and which ones are recommended?

I just got these Carhartt covers and love them They are very tough material, I think they would hold up well against dog nails. I only got the front seats but they make back and console covers also.

As soon as I brought my 2020 Rubicon home, I installed Bartact Baseline front and rear seat covers to cover its leather seats. I also covered the rear door interiors with ThinSkinz and installed a DirtyDog dog hammock and webbing cargo divider to give my dogs a safe, comfortable rear seat area. So far, I am very pleased with how these products perform and they seem pretty bullet proof. Most importantly, I’ve got a cap on my truck with a bed rug so I can haul all 370 pounds/4 dogs all at the same time, safely and without worry that parts of the truck will be degraded.
P.S. Just submitted an adoption form for a 1.5 year old, 116 pound male Kangal to add to the pack. If he joins us, I might be looking into getting a trailer.

Aaaarrrrrgh! I was hoping someone would chime in
and tell me that the Gladiator OE cloth upholstery
will stand up to fur babies.

Has anyone tried these seat covers? The $143 price is tempting.

If it’s dogs then whatever you get, get it waterproofed. Funny story how I know this. In the fall of 98 I bought a new 99 Silverado that was the then new body style and completely loaded. That spring we had also acquired two lab pups. Both were beautiful sweethearts, but complete and unrepentant poop eaters. The yellow one also couldn’t look at a car without getting car sick.

So along comes February 99 and we get a call late one night from my FIL in FL, MIL who had been ill finally had passed. Because of the short notice, my work commitments, and the puppies we decide I would stay home and she would go to FL to help her dad. We arrange a flight for literally the first thing in the morning. That morning it comes time to leave for the airport and the wife decides she wants the girls to come to the airport to see her off. Normally I would have dug my heels in, but circumstances being as they were and the fact her trip was going to be open ended, I relented. So I hustle the two little monsters out the door in preparation of a road trip. We load up the Silverado and drive the 60 minutes to Logan and drop the wife and bags at the airport. Mission Accomplished, I start home and just get out of the city on the highway when I sense this horrendous stench coming from the back seat. I pull over and discover the yellow one had just retched up a stomach full of now thawed, formerly frozen, dog poop. Since I’m on the highway I have to drive to the next exit and find something open at 6:30 on a Sunday morning. after about half an hour I find a convenience store, and get two rolls of paper towels and a couple gallons of spring water. Get th dogs in the bed and wash them down as good as possible in the 15 degree weather and go to work on the rear seat cushion.

As soon as I got them home I got them cleaned off (warm water outside faucet is a life saver) and went to work on the back cushion. I took the seat out, cover off the foam and clean the foam. Unfortunately the slurry of poop and stomach acid had by now seeped into the foam. On hot days ever after the back seat would stink unmercifully. Moral of the story, get a waterproof seat cover.

I had the carhartt covers on my JKUR and loved them, only problem is once they're on they're on so whatever your dogs smear all over the seats is going all over who ever sits there next (yes I know they're removeable and washable but a PITA)

My lady got me this style for the gladiator and I love it! keeps the dog hair off the seats AND when I take them out, the dog hair comes out too.

If you got that off amazon then I have the same one, and can attest that it's fantastic. My dogs shed a ton so it's nice to have that fur 95% contained.
It also came with dog seat belts, a pass through to the buckle, and a little pocket to hold that stuff.
And the orange trim matches the Mojave accents, which is a nice plus.

The dog seat belts are super nice if you have a dog that can't figure out standing up when you're coming to a stop results in them face planting, or if you have a dog that tries to jump up front. Plus if you were to ever be in a fender bender it is safer for them if they are held in by a harness like mine.

My GSP says that laps make the best seat covers.
