First time tonight. Was at High Point University christmas lights drive thru. Cruising through the campus in 2nd gear, up and down hills. There was alot of stop and go traffic and I was riding the clutch (probably shouldn't have). About half way thru, I got the clutch overheating warning. Stated for me to let out clutch and use sparingly. Was able to get it to clear after babying it for about 5 minutes or so. Did smell the clutch so to speak. Lost my sense of smell last year.
Didn't think I'd ever see that warning but there it was. I did have the pcm flash last year on this. Drove fine after I got out of there. Just a warning to the guys with the 6 speed. Be careful over using the clutch. Have a great night.

I'm a little disappointed that you didn't post pictures of the lights. High Point is a great school, from all I've heard.

My sincerest apologies!! Took some last year when I went through. Was in an auto then. They had reduced the length tonight due to a basketball ball game. I'll probably go back again in a few days. I'll get some for you then. I've heard the same as well. My sister, sister in law and my wife went there. Had an aunt who was a house mother at the school 45 years ago. I actually have a little animosity toward the school for another reason that's best left for another discussion.

Be careful over using the clutch.
This really depends on your definition of use vs abuse and whether you're talking about the friction disc itself or the pedal. Over-using the clutch disc is (at least in my mind) under-utilizing the clutch pedal in this instance.

I had the distinct displeasure of driving a manual 350z convertible in a walking parade years and years ago. It wasn't even mine, it belonged to the dealership I worked for. But my pride wouldn't let me stink up the parade with hot clutch, so bump-n-glide it was for 35 minutes. Over-using the pedal saved the clutch disc from over-use.

Couple times I’ve been in S. L. O. W. crawls on roads with my gladiators I’ve thrown it in 4wd and kept in in first/2nd. Keeps me from having to clutch at all if any. Even on dry pavement I’ll do this if I’m not expecting to turn the wheels at all.

To be honest, I was mindlessly cruising thru the light display. The campus roads are up and down hills throughout. In second gear to control my cruising speed to about 2-3 mph. And to hold position on an uphill. Can't say if I was over relying on the pedal or clutch if that is what your asking. I was only trying to enjoy the lights.

Gladiator owner's manual states minimum cruising speed for 2nd gear is 10mph (10, 19, 40, 55, 65)

There's a clutch overheat sensor? Lmfao, these crazy Jeep engineers!

Hopefully I never get to see it on my Jeep, lol
You'd be surprised what these things know about you. Be worried.

Actual engine - percent torque;07/18/2022;09:53:19:85;18
Actual engine - percent torque;07/18/2022;09:53:20:97;18

Key Cycles Since;07/18/2022;15:49:25:67;38

Remote Starts Attempted Since;07/18/2022;15:50:12:08;0

It sees you when you're sleeping, it knows when you're awake..........

That stuff is pretty standard with other manufacturers too, clutch temp sensor is a new one for me. Key cycles is the big one for catching tuned vehicles. Reflashing the ecu resets them.

Can someone not as lazy as me, find the part number for this sensor or a diagram with it?

I can only think of it in the bellhousing, would be wild to integrate to any of the rotational components. Unless its just inferred somehow through a combination of other sensors.

Now Im really curious. Lol

This is heating and wearing the clutch for no good reason. Use first gear to idle forward slowly, and use the brakes and the truck's hill hold system to hold position on an uphill.

As I've said, I wasn't using my head, just enjoying the lights. It's on me, I know that.
