Hey Everyone

Just curious as to if anyone else has gotten similar feedback. I just reached out to a Jeep specific offroad shop near me in in MD to get a quote on an install of a new centerforce clutch. I had one in a previous Jeep and I know the difference was night and day from stock. With about 65k miles on my stock clutch, I was ready to make the jump. I received word back from the shop owner stating that the JT manual transmission is weak and he won't do a CF Clutch install as it will not hold up over time. I know a few on here have installed new clutches so curious as to if anyone has gotten similar feedback...

All the best & Happy New Year!

I haven't decided whether I'm going CF II or Dual Friction. Mine is a daily driver with just some light offroading on the weekends and lots of long road trips. I'm considering the install mostly for improved driveability and the more sturdy feel that the CF gave in my last jeep... Not doing any towing or crawling though.

I have had my centerforce as long as anyone. I have never had any issues with the clutch or tranny once installed.

Not sure what the shop was trying to recommend, to me that sounds like the start of a very expensive upsell.

Following because I’m in the same position just with less miles. If you get more info on why it wouldn’t work, please let me know. I’ve called shops in MI who have done several Centerforce clutches in JT and JLs.

That's confusing as heck as he's suggesting that if the clutch holds, it will blow the transmission?
What's he advocate, letting a clutch slip to save the transmission? Once the clutch is engaged, it shouldn't matter. The only thing I could see is if some drivers were a bit "teenager" with the clutch and giving the transmission jolts shifting like they were on a drag strip. Normal use shouldn't matter, IMO. Just don't dump a strong clutch, that's all I can think of. Drive like you know how, not just learning.

If the transmission is that weak, there's a few folks here who would already be in trouble. I could dig up a couple or so names who have already gone CF clutches.

Their logic troubles me...... is it just me??

From Center Force suport when i inquired about the 2 different kits offered:

The friction material on part number KDF157077 is a little more aggressive
being a puck configuration also the engagement is a little more positive.
Typically, I only recommend the KDF 157077 on vehicle equipped with an
aftermarket supercharger.

They only recommend the dual friction for supercharged vehicles ? That seems like a small portion of potential upgrades.
