I am awaiting possible Good Will warranty coverage for some minor hood corrosion on my 2020 Gladiator as I just exceeded the 5 years by a few weeks. There is a process that requires the vehicle remain at the dealership during warranty consideration which can be several months.
The truck is my daily so the prospect of being without for several months is concerning so I was hoping that I could keep use of the vehicle during the consideration process. If the corrosion repairs are approved, they could order, prep and paint the hood separately, and I could bring the truck back once the hood is ready for install. This would free up space in the service lot, one less vehicle to for them to care for and would have to house my truck for a week vs. months.
Anyone, had a similar scenario that they were able to keep their vehicle in their possession while their warranty claim is being processed?

Absolutely Not. A real dealer takes pictures and documents the areas of the issues, then submits it to Jeep Corporate for approval. The only waiting involves the parts to be ordered and shipped to the dealer once it’s approved, and how booked their paint shop is. They are jerking you around, because either they don’t want to do the warranty work or they don’t have their own paint shop on site and have to sub it out to another paint shop. Go straight to another dealer that has their own paint shop and start again with the process. JeepCares should be involved for you to help expedite that approval. My 2020 was a $14K warranty claim that was approved. 3 out of 4 doors, hood, and tailgate. Good Luck.

Thanks for the response.
So to be clear, you had possession of your truck until the parts were ready to be installed?

Good news.
They would only need the truck for two days to gather photos and body shop quotes.
Then they work it out with FCA for the amount of coverage.
I’ll bring the truck back only if approved and parts ready.

Freems is exactly correct I did this recently and dealer took a picture of corrosion issue's and submitted the claim and after the part came in they painted it and once it was ready I took it in to be installed and two hours later it was finished.

Thanks. Do you remember how much they covered and how far past the warranty were you?

Mine was in warranty and dealer outsources body work to authorized shop so he had me drive it over there to take pictures. That was December and 2021 Gladiator is out of warranty now. I visit them in person every week to check. I am told the TSB has been recently modified which is dragging things out. Sounded like TSB was modified to leaning towards more spot repair work versus whole panel replacement. He warned me it would be 90 days minimum back in December and I really didn’t care. I am supposed to get all 4 doors and hood swapped. Patiently waiting, but still drive it every day. ~$8000 worth of repairs advisor told me. Seems high to me, but if FCA covers it, fine by me. I would ask for it back when the inspection is done. It could be a long wait. Good Luck!

Mine will be 5 in July. I’ve got some on my hood, but I’ve been too lazy to fight with the dealer. I know I should get it done, but I hate the dealers so much. I think I would if it were the doors.

You guys have a much better dealership to work with. I started my corrosion journey back in October of 25. My local dealership has failed on multiple occasions. My JTR has been at the third party bodyshop for over a month. Communication has been less than stellar.

Everyone better run from the dealer on this one. They wanted me to pay 30% of the cost and said it might take a couple of months. my 30% was 897$. For a spot the size of a quarter. That was their go away deal. I went away.

That’s what I’m trying to see how much “good will” FCA is willing to cover. If it’s minimal, then I’ll likely live with minor corrosion until it really demands replacement. There’s higher life priority expenses vs. for mostly a cosmetic issue.
I’m pissed I missed it by a few weeks.
