I was always planning on getting a topper, but wanted to wait to see my options. So I ordered a Yakima Overhaul as a temporary solution . Figured I’d get the Yakima a month before the truck, as I ordered both on the same day...
Truck took one month to show up, now it’s been three+ months and no rack!
I couldn’t hold out any longer for hauling ladders at work so I needed a stop gap solution for my stop gap rack. This is what I ended up building. As this is my first brand new truck, it was painful to adorn it with a rack of scrap 2x4s, but it got the job done.

I think that looks great!

Does it hold up well to bumpy roads?

Ghetto, but it looks like you make a living off your truck so you do what you gotta do.

Oooh, daddy likey! lmao Paint it krylon matte black and it'll blend in nicely until somebody makes a rack you like.
Better yet, have someone line-x it!

So far so good, I had to slam the brakes on the highway and everything stayed put.

What size are the ladders?
32’ extension ladder

Yes, it would look better with Line X, but I have exactly $0 into this rack and want to keep it that way! Hopefully it’s a matter of days and not months that my Yakima rack shows up.
