Thanks. That does seem reasonable to look for. I guess they sell it without the bag :(. I hope that my 12k lbs winch will be enough to get me out.
Nope it won’t, unless you have something to anchor it to.

Did I miss something?
My 12k lbs winch mounted on my front frame won't work?
Not sure what needs to be anchored to what or what you are suggesting needs to be anchored?

im in the desert a lot, not much out there to attach your winch rope to pull you out with, that’s why I carry a Pull-pal and a handyman jack. The Pull-pal becomes the anchor to anchor the winch line. The handyman jack can be used to anchor the winch line to be an anchoring point as well. You could have a winch mounted to the front and the rear, but with nothing to anchor the winch line to, your not coming home.

I have a 14,000 lb Pul-Pal. Carried it in my Power Wagon. It got me out of a deep mud hole backwards. Ran my winch cable under my PW to the rear and to the pul-pal. Going forward wasn't an option.

I suppose there are a couple ways to approach this.

1) I want everything in the world so that 100% of the time I can get myself out.
2) I will rely upon others to always get me out and carry the minimum
3) I want to have enough to get me out 90%-95% of the time. The rest, I get help.

I'm looking at #3. I purchased a Pull Pal just now. I'll connect to my winch and extend with tow straps, if I need. I can use the straps to go around rocks and trees and the Pull Pal when nothing else will do.

For the potential 10% (or less) when I may have been able to get out with multiple winching devices connected to all kinds of different things....well, I should never have gone there in the first place, and I will most like will turn around before that point. I take some risks, but I'm not a die-hard and going to risk everything for a little adventure.

Thanks for all the input, everyone. I think I will try the Pull Pal to drag me up a dune at Pismo Beach in another month, just to test. I also like the video showing the guy dragging it behind him to sink into the sand so he had an anchor to winch someone else out. Much better than a dead man for most everywhere I will go.
