With 2022 models coming out in a few months, anyone know how much I can negotiate on a 2020 JTM? Found a couple that have everything the I want, but also have more than I would order myself (leather, body-color top and fenders).

I’m debating between waiting for 2022 and doing a factory order with standard 5% below invoice or trying to negotiate a 2020. Are dealers letting these old models go for >10% below invoice or am expecting too much?

2 concerns for you, recalls up to date? And auto start stop battery. You might negotiate for a new battery, and make sure the steering / manual trans (if so equipped) are up to date.

there’s a few threads on here where trucks sitting for a while = battery issues

to your question, I’d sure think they’d be making deals on 2020s

I’ve been reading about more and more dealers not willing to make a “deal”. Also read an article that factory incentives on new vehicles are down about $1,000. It referenced the chip shortage. It alludes that there will/continue to be a chip shortage; new cars are rolling computers.

My opinion: Things will eventually get back to normal, but in next 12 months? I think supply will tighten.

I’m also searching for a deal on a leftover 2020. Really hoping to get one for 20% off the MSRP (but will probably accept 18%). The best I found so far was almost 16%. Usual discount I’ve seen dealers offer is about 8% (or less) which is mind boggling to me. I’m still optimistic to get to my (discount) goal if not in April, maybe in May (not in a hurry to buy and still plenty of 2020 inventory around me).

I was trying to do the same and struck out on a few deals bc I didn’t think the price they offered was low enough for a vehicle that had been sitting for the better part of 7-8 months. Dealers flat out told me that stock is pretty low so there’s no reason to discount anything a tremendous amount. And, this was even before the chip shortage.

Some people who want a JT right now will accept 8-10% discounts on a 2020 and drive away happy. Lack of patience will get these things sold.
