Won't using the JL piece effect cooling for payload and towing? The main reason they added those was for airflow to increase the tow rating
I'm sure it will. That’s why I’m glad to hear that ZAutomotive is coming out with a new clip.

Ttt. I would like to hear about this after someone has installed it. I am interested in doing this too and I wonder how difficult it is to wire it up.

Has anyone installed this front camera with the JL mounting clips? I’m getting ready to try to make it work but I’m up for any lessons learned from someone that’s already done it.

I have the Tazer installed but I keep waiting to hear if they are going to make a clip that works with the JT grille. I considered just getting the center piece for a JL but have held off.

In my last truck, a ‘14 Silverado, I installed a backup camera purchased on Amazon. It was quick and easy to install and the screen was a replacement rearview mirror. It was well under $100. When researching it I saw a number of cameras that would send a signal to a iPhone or iPad. Also inexpensive. Silly me, but I’ve been thinking I could outfit my Sport S with one or more trail cams without breaking the bank by mounting these cameras and using my iPad mini screen on the occasions that I would need them.

Has anyone else done something similar?

I was sort of wanting to try it myself, but in the end I had to have "gator." I had to order that and it was just too easy to say "Yup" when we got to the TrailCam option.

I get the tazer aspect of it I just want to see someone wire it up. I just dont see me tearing the dashboard apart to get to the back of the display to plug it in. I wish the connections were under the hood to just plug in the camera.

I couldn’t wait any longer and decided to see if I could modify the JL front camera mounting clip from z automotive to work on the JT. Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to work. I couldn’t get there camera to angle down enough to see closer than a couple feet in front of the bumper without it looking bad in the grill. What I ended up doing was mounting the camera in the bottom curve of the front bumper. It gave me visibility from 6 inches from the leading edge of the bumper to about 15 feet out. It’s hard to see the numbers on the tape measure from the non HD camera that we’ve all gotten used to on the back bumper. *multi-tool at 6”, drill bit at a foot, and end of tape measure 15 feet.
I’m sure z automotive will have a mounting clip for the JT in the future, but for now this works pretty good and doesn’t look too out of place on the factory bumper.

This looks good. Curious did you end up having to follow the JL instructions for tearing up the dashboard to connect to the U-Connect screen, or was there the rumored connector somewhere under the hood?

I did use the JL directions. I didn’t look for any other way to connect. I’d be surprised if the factory had set up a way to connect the rca cables that come with the after market camera.
Pulling apart the dash wasn’t bad at all. Just went slow to avoid breaking any clips.

Is there a video on how to do the install?

Good to know. I might work on mine in the next month or so, though it is tempting to just wait till march when the clip will become available. Though I am a little hesitant since I am still waiting on the Mopar Brake Controller. lol JT has been an act of patience for me since I held out for Gator as well.
