Hey guys,

Im about to take in my Jeep for it’s 10k service interval. My question is, I did all my mods from outside companies (MOPAR 2.5 lift done at 4WheelParts, 5.13 gears done at Southeast Jeeps). I have a tazer mini and a pedal commander both installed. Do I take the tazer and pedal commander off? They’re kind of a pain to install/uninstall, so I’d prefer to not take it off, but for obvious warranty purposes, do you all reset and uninstall?

Thanks in advance!

I uninstall my tazer and put it back to factory settings before the visit. I ordered an extension cable from tazer to make this easier. Maybe the dealer doesn’t care, maybe they do. Every dealer/mechanic is probably different. I dropped mine off for an oil change a few months ago. When I picked it up they said they did an update on the power control module. I didn’t remove my tazer since I was just getting an oil change. They didn’t say anything and neither did I. But I will make sure I remove it from now on. Lol.

I just uninstall the tazer and set everything back to factory. Once they are done just reinstall it. That gives me a chance to also upgrade or update any software on the Tazer while I have it out. My Throttle controller I just leave it as I can't see anything they would be doing having any effect on that. I need to look into the Tazer extension plug. That would make it easier on my old ass having to get up under there.

Do the service yourself and skip the free oil change. They inevitably will mess something up.
Sad but true, I won't even take a free oil change, who knows what they'll screw up? Unacceptable risk for me. Now if they would just ship the oil and filter to me.......

I may end up doing this. I have so much anxiety about other people working on my Jeep. I don't trust anyone. At least this way, I can use the oil I want to use.

What all is in the 10K service anyway?
Good question! I guess if anyone posts exact details of the service, that'll help me decide whether I'll be doing it myself or not.

The problem is that not all dealerships are equal in terms of service, but more importantly, not all mechanics are equal in terms of their capability and professionalism.

Near me I know who those mechanics are at my Ford dealership, and I know who that is at my Toyota dealership. When I make my appointments for those vehicles, I name the mechanic who must do the work on my vehicle, and they do the work. I have never had an issue with their work.

Now if you just make an appointment and let the service advisor assign that work to a POS mechanic, as Mac said, they will mess it up.

The challenge is to find the mechanic that you trust.

The only thing is an oil change. This is so easy to do yourself. To me it’s not worth $35 to let someone mess up my Jeep. I had to go to the dealer for a start/stop issue. ITwo more trips to fix things they forgot or did not reinstall. I just don’t have faith in the dealer service departments.
Sad but true.

The 10K service is listed as an oil change, and the associated items with each oil change.
Nothing special listed until 20k.
It's all in the manual.

who is your dealer? I want to make sure I avoid them if you have already had bad experiences.

I won't take my Jeep to the local dealership unless it's a warranty issue. And even then I'll argue like hell to have a mutually agreed upon mechanic work on it. But I have documented proof of the dealership doing damage when taking it in for issues so they probably are sick of dealing with me. Local Midas does oil changes just fine. Family friend mechanic does everything else.

I do not uninstall my tazer. I also do not trust my local dealer to do much other than oil and tire rotation and with that I have learned to check the work. So sad that the dealers have such bad reputations on doing the basic maintenance work.

I don't uninstall my Tazer either. The service advisor boss was the first guy who told me about the Tazer years ago. Don't know how it could void warranty. Burden of proof is on the dealership.
