We purchased a brand new Gladiator sport. At about 8k miles we started experiencing the death wobble. We were told by our dealership service center that it will keep coming back until we upgrade our stock tires to LT tires. Has anyone experienced this?

Which tires are on your Jeep now?

Unless there’s something wrong with the stock tires, they will not create death wobble. That’s a lie and don’t let your dealer tell you otherwise. Also, the next step for them will be replacing the steering stabilizer. That’s also a band-aid. It will mask the problem temporarily to get you out of your warranty period. Be warned.

There are a ton of videos on youtube on this. This one is suppose to be a good in-depth dive.

So you’ve got the H/T light truck tires (245 75 R17 H/T)? ...that look like car tires, as mine do, on a brand new ’24 Gladiator.

If that is the case, I think for them to tell you that L/T tires will behave better on the road is BS.

ETA- That is my unqualified opinion, and my two cents, but I was busting and installing tires at Sears in 1973, and can’t possibly imagine how an H/T (light truck all-weather road tire) would somehow cause this problem versus an all terrain tire that they recommend.

Your dealership service ppl are lazy retarded morons. Tell them to toss a set of other wheels and tires on to prove that to you. If by some black magic hocus pocus they're right then your tires should be replaced under warranty..

Well it's under warranty. Tell them to fix it.

At 8K miles—rotate the tires from to back. If you still have wobble—steering stabilizer. Try a different dealer.

The dealership is full of B.S. with excuses trying to weasel out of the warranty repair. At what speed do you have D.W. happen? And at what speed does it go away if you can or tried to "power though it". Likely due to something loose.
Now things I experienced with stock tires and rims the 245 AT's I did get better mpg than the HT's but no D.W. on either sets of tires. The HT's found every damn nail and screw on the road. It was with the HT's I noticed the recalled steering gearbox problem.
The tire rotation is a good check along with what tire pressure are you running. The "stock" tire pressure was to low in "my experience" on my JT, it had less than ideal handling. Mine is a 2020 Sport S "Max-Tow package". I've been though the D.W. on my XJ numerous times. Normal reason something loose or worn out besides being lifted over 6 inches.

What are you experiencing? People feel one little twitch, one little bumpity bump or vibration and they think it’s death wobble. There’s a reason why they call it DEATH wobble…….because it scares the bejesus out of you when you experience it.

If your dealership is telling you to change the tires…. It’s NOT Death Wobble.

So, what exactly are you experiencing?

I had a little wobble at 8000 miles give or take. Took it to a Jeep dealer in Mesa Az and the service writer told me that the factory steering stabilizer is crap and goes out all the time. Replaced it with factory oem and no more wobble. I have experienced death wobble before (11 jeeps prior) and this wasn’t death wobble, but enough shake to be concerned. 2022 Gladiator Overland for reference. As long as warranty replaces, I’m good. Having said that…now have AEV 2.5 duo sport lift and 35/12.50/17 Kenda Klever RTs so will be changing to heavy duty shock soon.
