My hood decals (thanks Pixel Decals!) have been ordered, and for the large center of the hood decal, I'm going to need to take the bumpers / washer sprayers off. Now, I watched the install video on their site and it looks like it should be fairly straight forward, but my question is on re-attaching the insulation blanket.

How likely are the plastic "pins" that hold the blanket in place to break when I take them out? Should I find a source to get some replacements ahead of time? If so, any suggestions on where to get them?

My other question is, applying lettering decals to the sides of the hood, any suggestions on keeping them level and even with the edge of the hood? Would it be overboard to break out my laser level kit and use that to line them up, or should I just painters tape the decal to the hood and use a ruler?

If you use the proper tool, they won't likely break:

I generally use a tape measure off the bottom of the hood with the decal positioned with painters tape to adjust, then use the center hinge method to apply after it is lined up.

That method is shown here:

Added both to my Amazon list, now I just need to decide if I want to drop a measly $10 on a tool that'll probably get used once...

I’ve taken that insulation off a couple times when I cut the vents in the hood. None of them broke. That being said, use the correct trim tool for removing them.
Also, it’s always good to have an assortment of different fasteners for projects like this. They will always break when you don’t have replacements on hand. You can find packs of assorted sizes on Amazon. They are cheap so buy a verity of them.
Sorry, can’t help you with the decals.

Trust me, if you do much work at all on a modern vehicle, you'll use it more than once.

I purchased the same hood decal, realized I had to take the insulation blanket off and said efffff that. I’d rather buy the one with the bumper cutouts, way too much work for what it is. IMO

The lettering is not bad. Take your time, use a shit ton of blue tape. Measure 10x apply once. I applied 1-2 letters at a time and cut off the excess and rechecked my measurement as I went.
Mostly make sure the surface is very clean before you apply.

I used the “wet method” of applying my hood decals (also from pixeldecals) and just used a tape measure and painters tape to get it as straight and level as possible on both sides.

It’s really no big deal at all. Takes 10 minutes at most and gives you a nicer end result. It’s the more finished way to do it. Also makes working with the decal easier because you don’t have them in your way.

I just recently did my set from Pixel. Don't sweat the the hood insulation, just take your time. That tool will work on any plastic body or interior pin. Best piece of advise I can give you is spray, spray and spray some more...its easy to work with when it is soaking wet. Best of luck!!
