We still have some sort of electric activation, even though the parking brake is cable actuated. We have hill hold, descent control, automatic emergency braking on some models, etc. So It could still work in that situation, if they chose to activate it that way.It's sad that a switch and a couple of cam actuators are cheaper than a cable system.
But then we have to deal with the AutoPark system, whereas the electric brake type can just set the brake.
